Re: 1996 Express Van TunerPro RT v5 Definitions Setup Help

Praise the Lord and blessed be the Father!! Very happy to report that it's alive!! Started up first try and and it runs like a swiss watch. I was pretty anxious about the first startup considering the fresh rebuild with lots of new parts and conversions. Lots to go wrong. I still have some sleuthing to do regarding some chassis wiring issues such as hvac, ac, horn, oil pressure which aren't working yet but those are most likely due to differences in the wiring harnesses between the service vans and conversion vans.

Anyhow, I spent almost two hours comparing and copying over the tables and saved it as the file attached below. Anyone with the similar setup as mine that needs a good place to start please feel welcome to it.
Now that I've got the van running I can neaten up the pcm wiring and reinstall the hydroboost system. Then It'll be time for a test drive. Have to figure out how to view live data and make a log now so I can dial in the afr's.

I want to mention that when I went to write the new .bin to the PCM I found that LS Droid has a great collection of stock .bin files for many makes and models including one that would have worked for me. Good to know as this will save time and frustration in the future. Also, although I changed the VIN in the .bin, for some reason it was not reflected by LS Droid after the flash. However LS Droid has an Engine Details button where it gives you the ability to modify aspects of the PCM including the VIN number. It worked great and now the PCM matches the actual van VIN!

We are at the same point more or less. Have to clean up the PCM end of my harness, finalize my cooling system. About to decide between E-fans or back to the clutch fan prior to cleaning up the harness. I found an 01-02 PCM bracket on Evilbay for $25 to properly mount the P59 which is the same housing as the 0411. Still looking for the correct 01-02 water shields for the GM VCM water intrusion/corrosion TSB for the earlier vans. I want them to perform that TSB but they have been discontinued from GM. Hopefully find an 01-02 in the local wrecking yards soon to snag them from.

Universal Patcher has some datalogging ability if you end up unable to find an ADS for TunerProRT. I use HP Tuners for logging myself.

Before I left for my mom's house for mother's day and to do some work around her house over the next week or so I did a running valve adjustment on mine. Quieted down the lifters substantially compared to the previous static adjustment I made. Finding zero lash for initial setup with the van engine wedged up under the dash and firewall is always a bit difficult as is locking down the poly locks while preventing the adjustment from changing.

I also need to re-install the hydroboost hoses and master cylinder that I removed to access the engine wiring and PCM bracket, hence the short belt setup in this clip. Temporarily have 1 x cooling fan hooked up so that I could run it and heat cycle it a few times. I installed the oil filler tube, transmission dipstick and engine dipstick befor leaving. Have it all clearing the new Indmar MCX manifold and coils something I was worried about. Ended up having to take a MAP gas torch, wood block and rubber dead blow to the transmission stick a bit where it curved to clear the stock coil, but the adjustment to that bend needed to make it clear was minimal and all is good now.

When I get back I still have axle seals and rear brakes to service on the 10.5 FF 14 bolt. Noticed some fluid on the lower side of the backing plates. Those brakes and seals have somewhere between 10K and 314K on them. Literally bolted a 304K mile rear end in place and never even pulled the drums on mine, just changed the fluid, resealed the leaking cover and rolled with it. I had already cut down 4" silicone ducting and have a functional 4"air intake using an 01-02 filter housing and LS7 cartridge MAF in a universal 4" aluminum MAF housing that I put a Saxon PC 6:1 flow straightening screen into. That 4" MAF was on my old setup so I already have a decent MAF curve for it. The stock coolant recovery tank also clears. Even with the taller 34 x 19 x 2.25" aluminum radiator I will use if I go with the electric fan setup. I added the cooling stack air guides to the condenser mounting bolts used on 2016+ vans and trimmed them to meet up to the 97s grilled as the newer vans have more space between the grille and condenser. Those air guides prevent airflow from flowing from the grille area in front of the condenser, around the cooling stack, through the core support openings behind the headlights and turn signal lights. Really helped my cooling when I fitted and tested them in the middle of last summers heat wave in Texas. I also need to find the plastic heat shield that mounts to the underside of the hood on the newer vans and helps seal off engine compartment heat from the air cleaner assembly. That heat shield extends from the hood and closes off the gap between the air cleaner air inlet and engine compartment, helping ensure the 01+ style air cleaner only draws in cooler air from the gap between the hood and grille.

    2. Scaler Table G1204 and G1205 for Tach High and Low Pulses- The 6.0 bin has the number 6 in both tables with says it is normally used for 4 cylinders. Should it not be number 3 which is normally used for 8 cylinders? The 5.7 has a 1 selected and is probably because its using the 4x reluctor so that won't work. Im using the 24x reluctor. Has to be 6 or 3. Considering I don't even have a Tach I'm just going to leave it a 6 for now. It'll be the first thing I suspect if I have timing issues though.
1.) Leave as 6.0L, really that setting is only an indentifier not a functional code switch.

2.) Leave the settings the same as a 6.0L unless you need to alter the tachometer output for a swap with a functional tach. The stock LS PCM outputs a 4 cylinder compatible tachometer signal.
