    Question I'm Comfused

I have a stock 1994 Chevrolet K2500 Suburban 4x4 with the 7.4L gas engine and the 4L80E transmission.

It has 4.10 gears in a 14-Bolt 10.5 FF Rear Differential (obviously 4.10 in the front as well) (RPO code "G80", and "Z82" Towing package).

Several years ago (less than 10) I copied my MEMCAL with my "MiniPRO TL866CS Universal Programmer" EPROM burner using the Moates Memcal Readout Header and saved it to a .bin file.

I assume it's a Fairchild or equivelent "27C512" EPROM, but the silkscreened label on the EPROM is not any normal "27C512" part number, instead it is 3 rows reading:

    014
    67633
    B9434AF

My computer sticker says "SERV. NO 16197427 BJKW" and I assume the serial number is *86BJKWK642453972*. The blue plastic cover says "DELCO 8040 BJKW". The sticker on the EPROM says "4243 1618 8020". The Resistor Pack says "1344230".

What confuses me is if I run Hashtab on my .bin file the CRC doesn't match the various bjkw***.bin files available in the download section, but the dowloaded files match each other.

I never used TunerPro before, but today I load my file and one of the dowloaded BJKW files as a compare file, and so far the values for spark, fuel and EGR all seem to match (so far ?), so I don't know what is different about my file, unless my CRC is different because I used a different program to read my chip, and maybe the program you guys use to read or maybe edit the bin file re-hashes the crc value to be a certain value?

I will try to upload my .bin file so hopefully you can check it out for me and see if my .bin file is good and maybe tell me what is different/special about mine.

I eventually want to delete the EGR because I seem to have to reolace the EGR almost every year because they keep failing and throwing a code, and they don't want to warranty them anymore.

I've read that with TunerPRO you can change the MPH setting to an absurdly high number so the EGR never turns on.

I allready have a bunch of "27C256" and "27C512" EPROMs and know how to UV-erase and program them.

    Thanks.

EDIT: For some reason I can't upload the bin file, I get an access denied page. Is this forum hosted on a GoDaddy server? I am instead attaching a pdf printout of the Godaddy error page.

Incidentally some threads in the forum are also being blocked by GoDaddy. I don't use GoDaddy, so it must be server side.

Attempting to upload my factory MEMCAL binary... Maybe a zip file will work.

    Looks like zip files work!

I have photos of my memcal and ecu in my albums. I didn't get a photo of the EPROM, maybe later.

Your file opens fine with Tunercat. Here it is with EGR Enable speed set to 150 MPH, Enable RPM set to 6000, EGR spark advance adder zeroed out, and Error Code 32 turned off.

And I had to zip it too to get passed the GoDaddy BS.

Thanks @2xls1 Much appreciated! Now all I have to do is either find another ecu or just a memcal to modify, or find a way to swap chips, as I don't want to erase and program the original just yet. :-)

Moates, Boosted NW and Red Devil River all sell a MEMCAL adapter that you plug your existing MEMCAL into then the adapter drops in where your MEMCAL is now. It bypasses the existing PROM and has a machined PROM socket that you can either put your EEPROMS in or put a ZIF socket in. I strongly suggest the low profile ZIF socket if your gonna be tuning.

    Re: I'm Comfused

    Thank you.

I could make my own adapters cheaper than they sell them for, IF I wanted to. Vibration is my big worry.

If I did make a board, I'd probably go crazy with a multi-PROM switched setup to have different modes, but that's overkill for my daily driver/family hauler, LOL.

My Suburban didn't even have a trailer hitch receiver on it when I bought it (someone stole it), and I don't have anything to tow, so I haven't gotten' around to getting a receiver just yet.

I DID find me a used AD244 alternator and rebuilt it, so now I have a 145 Amp alternator with no Voltage drops, runs about 14.5 VDC. The Stock CS alternator was supposedly 105 Amps, but I've read that's at 5k RPM (my 7.4L would never rev that high.

I also plan to remote mount the ICM because I've had a couple burn out from engine heat.
