Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

Thanks for all the work. I went through the new file and compared it to the 260Z1109 and they look similar. I had a hard time comparing the spark and fuel tables, but it did look like the PW was different.
I'm still learning what I'm looking at so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of info.

No worries. Tunerpro has some nice tools to help compare different files. After selecting your bin file and your definition (xdf) you can load a calibration for comparison (Compare -> Load Compare Bins).

After loading the comparison file(s) you can use the difference tool (Tools -> Difference Tool) to see a list of what's different between the files. Select the files you want to compare from the drop down menus and click Search to get a report. The results are displayed in hexadecimal values so they probably won't mean much, but you can get an idea what is changed then look at the values separately later.

Or you can view current and prior data in graph mode.

You can also view tables and data and use the compare function to show differences. Clicking the compare function (looks like scales) can switch between bins.

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

I have been looking through the files and there are a lot of differences between what you have done and what the 260z9011 file has. One thing I noticed is knock settings, most of the settings are 0 on the 260Z9011 and have different settings on the Larryz_3-27-25 file. There are so many lines to look at it is amazing what it takes to do this. I'm starting to understand were things are and how it works, but the learning curve is very steep at this point.
    Thanks

Are you using a knock sensor? If so I can move the knock tables over.

No, I don't have a knock sensor, just something I saw as I was looking at all the different tables. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does. I'm hoping to have the TPS on and working soon. What should I set it at, I'm
thinking 0.5. AFI wanted it at -0.3.

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

It's surprising how many differences exist between the two calibrations. In some spark tables it looks like values were set to mimic the original distributor operation. This is common when creating a baseline calibration. Over time, test and tune sessions can create spark and fuel tables with more peaks than what a mechanical / vacuum system could accomodate.

.5V is good. TPS voltage between .4V and .6V is pretty typical.

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

When it comes to tuning, I have done it old school, seat of the pants, vacuum gauge and listen for knocking. I have worked with fuel injection over the years but just keeping them running so when I installed the system in my Z that part was easy put doing data logs started to open my eyes on how much it takes to make these systems work. I now feel like I have now gone down the rabbit hole and I'm looking at a whole new world. I have started to see the flaws in the system (TPS and injectors) and partly in the way some of the files were written.
It is going to be fun to start going through the process of logs and tuning now that we have a better baseline to work with.
    Thanks

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

Good morning, I have been working on getting my new TPS mounted. Tring to get the TPS to work off of a different part of the throttle linkage has been challenge, but I have got it moving through the full stroke of the linkage.
I'm getting ready to change the wiring from the old type of TPS to newer type TPS. Does someone have a good wiring diagram? After I get it wired I can see how the ECM and the emulator works with the new file.
    Thanks

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

Good morning, I have been working at changing my TPS so it will do the full range of movement. The way it was setup it would only get to about 68% of the full range. It has taken some refabricating of the mounting bracket and making a place on the lower throttle linkage to make it all work, but it looks like it will work now. See pics, the first pic is the original way it was setup and the next is the new setup.
I have a new file in my emulator thanks to one of the members here on the site, but I can't see what the ECM is doing. I need to setup the TPS and was hoping to use the dashboard in Tuner pro but I must not have something set right. I have the right bin file and XDF file, but I still can't see what the ECM is doing.

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

Thanks to some help from one of guys here on the site, I think I'm getting closer to getting tuner pro to give me the info I need to make all parameters are right on my new file on the emulator.
The car definitely runs better then did at idol seems smooth when I rev it up, so far, it seems good.
Now that I have an adx file I have the dash and it will give me tables of different kinds but as you can see from the screenshot it doesn't give me any info. I'm sure it is something I need to do but I'm not sure what that is.
Can somebody give me some insight. Thanks

The bottom indicator, if it’s yellow you’re not connected. Arrow pointing towards the top, click on the double blue arrows to get DA started/stopped.

Thanks, I just went out and tried that and when I clicked the blue arrows the ready box goes blank. That didn't work what's next.
I know with some work and help I'm going to get there.

I see that TPRT sees the cobra, however you need another cable that is hooked up to the ALDL port to see data. If you do have a cable going to the ALDL, then you might need to mess with some settings. I'm not at all familiar with the cobra.

Re: 260z project that needs some tuning help

Well, I tried the ALDL cable that I have used to do logs before I got the new laptop and the winzip wouldn't work with widows 10. I used both cables at the same time and still nothing.
The ALDL cable won't access anything.
I still have a check engine light on and when I tried to do the flash check with the check engine light all I got was a number 12 letting me know the wasn't running.
Do you or somebody have any other ideas. Thanks
