    EBL P4 IAC STEPS MAX WRONG?

    In my calibrations and even with the "COMPARE" bins, it shows max steps at "key on" and other parameters to be 145 steps, but factory 7730 SD is 160 steps max... Is there a reason for this 15 step discrepancy? Would it be okay to go ahead and move it up to 160? Thanks.. Adam

    On my EBL Flash-II I have the Max Steps set at 255 to help get more air at WOT. It works fine this way. YMMV

    I didn't know man... I mean what "MAX" was etc... I plan to make small changes, (1) at a time.... I am getting Old girl dialed in slowly... Now she has a brand spanking new Tremec TKX trans, Mcleod S.E Clutch, Ram Hyd T.O bearing, etc... Just did the whole upgrade, carpet, console, etc.... All brand spanking new! Go "BIG" or go home.. Right?!? Now to get those 93-95 TA seats re-covered and installed.. Woof! Thanks for the Reply!! And if anyone talks to Rbob, tell him i hope he is all well, i know some have had a time trying to get a hold of him.. Hope he is good...

    You wouldn't know anything about the "VSS" outputs do ya? I know there is a setting that you can adjust and currently is set at 4004.00, is that the setting for the "INCOMING SIGNAL" or "OUTGOING" signal to the speedometer?!? The new TKX has a 17PPR signal vs the old 700R-4 signal of 40PPR... Or 1700 PPM VS ORIGINAL 4000PPM... I got a Dakota Digital box, just want to make sure before i go cutting wires is all....

    That's incoming signal to the ECM. The DD Dash I have can adjust MPH by GPS or setting to mile markers. I still have the VSSB(or DRAC) on my 88 so, my Cruise Control still thinks I'm running at original tire size and differential ratio. This is all with the EBL Flash-II so, YMMV

    So i should be able to change the numbers to reflect the new TKX signal difference? It has the same as a T56 type, 17PPR...

    Is it working now, but off a little? If so, you can drive around with a GPS APP on your phone, stop to adjust, drive around, stop to adjust, rinse and repeat until you're happy. That'll make your ECM happy, then you need to calibrate your speedo in your DD Dash. If you have to add/remove jumpers on it, do that 1st, then go for your ECMs speed. Edit: I'm not sure if the signal from the VSS is split before the VSSB or after, maybe someone else can chime in...

    I don't have a DD dash.... I just have a factory 1991 Firebird TPI 350 Dash... The original 700-R4 was suppose to have the same type "OUTPUT" signal, just different pulses.... Factory is 40 PPR i think vs the TKX of 17 PPR... I went ahead and got a D.D SGT100 box just in case i need it, but if i can get away without it, that would be awesome...

    Sounds like you need to get 2000PPM whether you figure out how to install the correct VSS or use the DD box to convert it.

    On a 7730 S.D type, it's 4000PPM all the way.. The computer buffers it on 90-92 GM 7730 S.D ECM's... No yellow buffer box on these... It gets the purple/yellow wires fed directly to the ECM, then the ECM sends (2) signals.. Brown wire goes to speedo with 4000PPM and a red wire for cruise at 2000PPM... I was looking at my logs, the speedo goes up and down with speed, it's just pegging out due to the pulse amount difference.. I do believe i can change it or get it close, (I HOPE) anyways... Gonna play with it some here in a few.... I still got to get that "FIRST START" issue fixed... The "RICH UNTIL WARM" has been solved, now i just got to adjust the first "CRANK" so it hits quick... Right now it does the long crank, then sputters unless you feather it for a few seconds, It either needs more IAC being cammed or more fuel one, doesn't do it once warm, you can turn it off and it fires easy and quick on restart.... Just that first "COLD CRANK" set... Should i concentrate on the "CHOKE" or "CRANK" setting for this? And what is the difference of those two?!? Still some things i am trying to understand, these "OUTLIERS".... The rest is perfect,m runs like a "RAPED APE" man, perfect... Once i get this issue and the speedo done, i am calling it good for now!! Take her to a dyno... Try to see what she is putting down eventually..
