EBL Flash Update Instructions

READ THIS FIRST!

Introduction

The EBL_FlashUpdate utility is a Windows program. When connected to the EBL Flash ECM via the data logging/flashing serial port it will update the base code in the ECM along with the calibrations. The process takes a little over a minute to complete. Once completed your EBL Flash ECM will have the latest firmware in it. The 8 banks of calibrations will also be updated.
  1. The EBL Flash update process reads the current calibrations out of the ECM. These are placed into a series of files named Bank_0_old.bin through Bank_7_old.bin.
  2. They will be created in the same folder (directory) that the update utility is run from.
  3. The update utility will then create eight new calibrations. These are based on the ones read from the EBL flash ECM.
  4. They too are created in the same folder that the update is run from. And are named Bank_0_new.bin  through Bank_7_new.bin.
  5. The update process will flash in these new calibrations along with he updated ECM code.
  6. Use these new calibrations for all further tuning. So copy & rename them as required.
  7. Do not delete the old (original) calibrations that have been created.
  8. If the update process fails, just restart it. It will need the calibrations that were read out. This is why they need to be left in place.

To update
  1. Copy the EBL_FlashUpdate utility into it's own folder (make a new folder).
  2. Connect laptop to EBL Flash ECM via serial port.
  3. Boot laptop, start the EBL_FlashUpdate program, and select the proper COM port.
  4. Key-on, engine-off. Wait for COM port to show "Open."
  5. Click the "Proceed With Update" button.
  6. Wait for the update program to go through all eight calibration banks (about 1 minute).
  7. Once completed use the new ECU/XDF file with the newly created calibrations.
