Ok have the 7730 ecm with 7165 memcal installed, external est(knock) connected to b8, I am getting code 43 knock sensor failure, do I need to add 3.9 resistor to ground on pin f9?
Or move from b8 to f9 and use a 3.9 resistor? Seems like everything i have read does not really address the 7730 with 7165 mem cal which does not have the knock filter on memcal.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Possibly an ESC Module is required.

The picture below is for TBI not TPI and is for reference only, do not use as a wiring diagram.

1227730 TPI did not use an external ESC Module, but many TBI computers used external ESC Modules.

The early TBI computers, with external ESC Modules used a 100K Ohm knock sensor.

There is the option to convert a ‘7730 V6 Memcal to a ‘7730 V8 Memcal.

Modifying the '7730 V6 Memcal for V8 is low cost, simple, and very effective. I've been there, done that, and the results have provided many, many miles of smiles.

I suspect there might be a knock frequency difference between the V6 Memcal Knock Filter board vs. V8 Memcal Knock Filter board.

    I use the 1227730 V8 TPI 4K knock sensor after modifying the V6 Memcal for a V8.

Would you have a part number by chance.
Also if I use this I would connect directly to pin F9 with no resistor? Right

The '7165 ecm uses a 16k memcal eprom, the '7730 uses a 32k memcal eprom. Completely different instruction set.

Biggest issue is if the hardware is in different locations. '165 code sends a message to injector driver to fire injectors but 730 board says "Nobody at that address."

7165 can run $12P Holden speed density code.
