    Knock Issue

What would cause the computer to pull timing from the motor at all rpms, even idle, but only count 2 knocks the whole time logging?
The motor is a fresh 383 tpi with a 1227730 computer.

    Thanks for any insight.

    Hi
Check the wire to the knock sensor to the PCM. Check it isn't frayed, cracked or rubbing on the bodywork.

In the $EE LT1 PCM There are several retard tables (Startup or crank retard & a Temperature vs MAP retard)
There is also timing retard for Traction Control and probably more. Check your XDF file if using TunerPro.

x2 but had accompanying code 43. Idle seem to be ok but the higher the rpm/kpa was, it pulled more timing. While under the car near the starter/KS, I noticed the wire crimp on the KS and another wire. Turns out greasy hands all over dk blue and dk grn wires can appear the same. Idk how the PO managed the switcheroo!!! Probably forgot to disconnect it during the engine swap. Snap! After crimping wires back to where they belonged, no check engine light and all is good!!!

Code 43 is showing...might have the wrong knock sensor in it or possibly the wrong esc module. Will check out the wiring too. It is pulling out 20 degrees up top.

The 1227730 uses a knock sensor that should be ~3.9k ohms and doesn't use a esc module. Esc filter is part of the memcal. Older TBI trucks used 100k ohm knock sensor and by appearance look the same.

I have a new KS on order...most definitely the problem. I will update when it comes in.

Yup...correct knock fixed the timing issue. Thanks all!
