    PCM HAMMER

I finally got PCM Hammer to connect via Blue Tooth on Windows 8.1 and a 0411 computer, and after I exited out, and then trying to connect again it will not connect. Any help?

    Hello Bill,

Same problem with me for PCM Hammer and basically any Windows Bluetooth connection - me and Windows Bluetooth just don't get along. My solution was to run PCM Hammer with a hundred dollar "VX Diag VCX Nano" J2534 device. Its four times faster with PCM Hammer and the hardware comes with licensed GM software that emulates a GM Tech2 device - very handy for engine and trans troubleshooting.

Your programmed 0411 PCM shipped today via USPS and indicates a delivery date of next Monday. I would have gotten it in the mail yesterday but grabbed the wrong flat rate box at the post office. I will PM you with the tracking number.

Thanks for the info. I'm on my third Blue Tooth dongle and have yet to get them connected to my computer and to the OBDlink LX. I'm ready to throw them out the window. I'll check into Nano device. UPDATE: Is that the blue one?

I finally have PCM Hammer and the VXC Nano connected and working. Now a question: How long does it take for PCM Hammer to save a file from the PCM to a computer?

PCM Hammer asks for what you want to name the file before the copying begins. Then for a red / blue 512k PCM, it was no more than maybe three minutes to complete the copying. Double that time for a 1 megabyte blue / green PCM.

Thanks, I was saving a 2003 file, and it did show where Iwas saving it to.

Most of us do the copying and writing using a bench harness though not everybody. Doing it in the vehicle has risks of the DC voltage in the vehicle battery going too low or bus chatter noise from other modules interfering with the writing.

My bench harness is entirely constructed of junk yard parts supported by a good 13.8 volt, three amp Radio Shack power supply. A wall wart 12 volt supply is also risky for too little amperage or an unstable voltage. Fortunately, I have never bricked a PCM but it would be a good intellectual exercise someday to see if I could unbrick it.

Can anyone advise me what I might have wrong. P01 , tuner pro bin, OBD Link LX, and PC Hammer. Test write shows successful erase and write, but when I try to write I get an error, unable to erase flash memory. Not sure how to fix this issue. I appreciate your help!

Your 12.2 volts in the third line down above is on the ragged edge of being too low, especially during the "Write" and erase portions of the PCM Hammer process. I agree with kur4o . . . you need a heftier power supply that can do a minimum of about two amps without dropping voltage. I use a no kidding 13.8 volts DC old Radio Shack power supply that can deliver three amps continuously - no problems.
