Square body stepsides forever!!!
Well, my new no-operational Tektronix O-scope arrived today. :D
I've taken a few minutes to look inside and so far I have found two obvious problems. One leg on an N-channel MOSFET is broken (there's no way that's the entire problem because the guy I got it from would have HAD to have seen that, or caused it) and a broken part that looking at the number seems to be a diode, but is physically unlike any diode I have seen previously.
Luckily I have two service manuals for it, so I should be able to find the problem, and hopefully fix it, if it's more than just these two obvious parts. He said that it used to power on, but made a squealing sound, and the beam find worked but couldn't get anything else to work.
It came with the accessory bag and the front cover, I was not expecting either of those items. :D
I'll be looking at this closer after this semester ends. :D
The man who says something is impossible, is usually interrupted by the man doing it.
Well, my truck wanted some attention again this week. When my son and I did the big 3 upgrade, we had to remove the starter to put the new positive battery cable on. Apparently, that somehow loosened the 5/16 nut holding the ignition wire on, so it didn't want to start. A 1/4 drive 5/16 deep socket fixed that fine. We spent the rest of the afternoon splitting and stacking firewood. I now have about 5 cords in the woodshed where it will keep nice and dry this winter. A very productive day.

The new one for me is they want my phone number? I reply it's customary for CL ad response to include YOUR phone number for return calls so we know it's a legitimate reply to the ad and not some kind of SPam Scam.... so there next reply is How much? Well that is already in the ad...

That scam happens all the time for me. They want a valid email address and / or phone number to sell. Sometimes the scammers are a little better, like when I was selling a trans for a '99 Suburban they would say "I'm interested for my Tahoe" which seems valid. Other times you get garbage... "Item Still Available?" 2 hrs after posting. Any generic replies that come in 48 hrs after initial post get dumped. I like to put specific instructions in ad: "Reply with phone number and the words Sugar Maple in your message to prevent automatic deletion by spam filter." It's all about getting people who pay attention and are smart enough to read. "Sugar Maple" would be a catch phrase and I always pick something that has nothing to do with what the ad is for, just to see who's on the ball.

Garage Heaters:
Well, I'm thinking most of us are living in areas where record or near record low temperatures are happening. My garage is heated with a Dayton 3UG73 or often called the G73. http://www.amazon.com/DAYTON-3UG73-E.../dp/B0090QPIV6
I installed my garage heater back in the 90's, when I think most of the Dayton products were made in the USA. I'm thinking Dayton is NOT making the 3UG73 in the USA anymore.
The 3UG73 is 240 VAC.

Its been in the mid 70's the past couple days here, and just last week it was in the 20's at night and barely breaking the mid 30's during the day. Geeze

99 Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee limited, 4.0L, auto, 2wd, leather and power everything, 99% stock---the long distance highway ride.
It's in the mid 20's for highs here and low single digits at night, real close to zero. Thank God for lots of wood in the wood shed. We had to put down one of our dogs that had cancer, and I buried her today out back. That was a real chore as the ground is frozen solid. I got a real workout. 21 degrees and I was sweating.

Bummer on the loss of your freind!
Down to single digits here each morning! Had a new energy efficient gas heater installed a few years ago and the heat bills did drop a lot, well worth it. But man it ran almost all night last night, just turned off once in awhile for a break I guess? But I was warm!
