the one that was smothered all over the conventional US stations for the past year and a half.

george zimmerman and the death of trayvon martin.

found not guilty. i'm half-expecting a riot it florida where it occurred, but so far nothing yet.

    Oh...

I'm not in the US, and I don't watch TV, so I had no idea there was even a trial going on...

we know, Chris, we know. you live in the land of maple syrup and poutine(that stuff is far tastier than it should be).

    anyways, tl;dr version:

in florida, where about 50% of the crazy happens in the US(especially with the spread of bath salts), what should have been a simple self-defense case somehow got blown out of proportion into this big racial fueled monster that the department of justice personally took an interest in, wasted a whole bunch of time and money, corruption and doctored evidence EVERYWHERE, assured future lawsuits due to the actions of key members of the prosecution.....

    it's a mess.

You forgot how the media only reported one side... even the police did not want to press charges, prosecutor said he did not have a case and was fired for not filling charges, state attorney ended up filling charges. What a waste, at least our justice system worked in the end. Ruined the guys life, he now has his SS number and address posted all over the net with death threats and bounty's. Just because he used self defense and shot the guy who attacked him and was smashing his head into sidewalk.

Why? Because the attacker was black and defender, although Hispanic was always reported as WHITE Hispanic, when in reality he was Hispanic and Indian! Had he been black it would have never made the news. Had color been reversed? It would have never made the news. Both white? Never made the news... see how things work down here?

Stuff not allowed in court was kid 17 was into guns, gangs, trouble, drugs, prior robbery. Defendant was model citizen on neighborhood watch following said thug around when he hid and attacked him.

Martin Vs Zimmerman for a search.

I'm still here. I visit and read every day, just havent been working on anything fuel injection lately.
I have had a few changes lately. I just had my girlfriend move in with me. And yes, I have been working a lot of OT at work lately too. 7-6 M-F and 7-1 saturday for the past couple months.
And I had my computer crash last week, had to have that fixed. Thankfully I didnt loose anything, but it was my desktop, not my tuning laptop. So internet and music is pretty much all I use my desktop for. I rarely use my laptop for anything other than tuning.

I've been toying with an idea for a few days now. My son has a 283 that came out of his wrecked nova. It is way over-cammed. What I am considering is stuffing a small journal 327 crank into it making a 307, stuffing a set of 305 vortec heads on it and a tpi unit to feed it and a 700r4 behind it. DD puts up some decent numbers for it using a lunati cam. It will go into his 52 chevy pu. It will be strictly a cruiser, not designed to go real fast. With the camaro front clip, is will sit fairly low. Any comments? The block is not in bad shape, and the block shouldn't need machining, just a different crank, cam, heads and intake.

That should be a fun combination. I keep wanting to try those heads on a smaller engine. The 307 had a bad rep back in the day but they'd make power just like any other if you worked on them. For some reason GM either didn't install exhaust valve oil seals or had poor ones on some of the pickup engines so old timers always said they were oil burners.

Does the '52 have the original rear? Running smaller tires than stock? 3.90's / 4.10s work well with the shorter stroke 283 but you'll be ok with three and a quarter crank.

I'm thinking the 283 has stoke of 3.00" and the 327 has stroke of 3.25". I'm thinking the 283 uses a piston with a compression height of 1.800 and the 327 uses a piston with a compression height of 1.675". I'm thinking different pistons are needed to use the 327 crank in the 283?

I'm thinking a 283 with 67cc heads is about 8.6:1 compression ration, and about 9.4 compression ratio with 57cc heads with the original 283 pistons.

Are 305 Vortec heads about 67cc?

Dave, GM made a 307 for many years so the pistons are available. 305 heads including the L30 Vortec have 58cc chambers. 1.84/1.50 valves are factory installed although there is room for 1.94 intakes if you don't mind some shrouding.

What I'm remembering about the production 307 vs 283 specs. The 307 was produced from the late 60's (1968?) to early 70's (1972?), with 3.875" bore x 3.25 stroke. The 283 was produced from (before I was born) to maybe 1967(?) with a 3.875" bore x 3.00 stroke.

I was thinking jim_in_dorris was wanting to change the cam, heads, crank, and intake only. I'm thinking the pistons need to be changed also, which I posted the specs for. Maybe pistons are in the plans / budget for jim_in_dorris? I didn't see pistons listed in the original post.
