Anybody messed with security/surveilance stuff and know if any of the lower cost sytems that are prolific on ebay are worth it?I need to put a camera near my driveway,at least 100ft away from whereever the box will be. It needs to be very good resolution with good night vision.
I intend to expand past 4 camera's,but for budget reasons (~$150) just need to put up 2-3.
I do have extra desktops that I could use, just not sure if I should buy a card and then camera's or a DVR w/camera's and which kind?
Probably be easiest for me to run coax,I would prefer it over wifi but I will be monitoring over wifi anyway so meh.
Just need to get started and not sure how.

Yeah,I understand they run the same frequency as most routers as well and interfere's.FCC part 15 is always a catch22.
I'm thinking my best bet is to spend the money on a good 8ch pci card and one camera and expand from there?
I would like audio as well for at least 2-3 channels if not capability to record audio/video direct from camera.

Well, I thought that I would share this picture of where I cut fire wood. This meadow is up around 6000 ft. That is Mt. Shasta in the background. Not quite due south of the meadow.

That is just north of Martin's Dairy Campground in the Goosenest District in the Klamath National Forrest. If you use google earth, look for martin's dairy campground, montigue, ca.

Here's an afternoon in woods for my buddy and I. Picnic Lunch a couple of chain saws and a little work. We'll be warm this winter. My son and I use his truck to get our wood, and I go out with him and help get his fire wood. I also do maintenance on the truck.

Here in Idaho when you go get firewood the trees are still standing? Or if they fell they are all over the place... how do you teach the trees to die and all line up in a pile like that?

That looks like a pile of little trees the loggers leave behind and the locals clean up for them...

Yeah, these are mostly the tops of the trees. The piles are usually off limits, and we have to go cut trees down. Having a "Drive-in" wood pile sure makes it easy.

Reminds me of trip I made last winter (-5 degrees F) to Mt Hood, Oregon 6000 Feet. Took some pics, then drove back home (about 50 miles) and the temperature was about +40 F @ 12 feet above sea level.

Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr That's just too cold to be outside playing. I just stick another piece of wood in the stove and look outside when it's that cold.
