    No values in TunerPro

    Hello all,
I hope I don't sound stupid, but for the last few weeks I've been searching all the forums to try to understand the tuning procedure. One issue I have is that when I open a bin file in TunerPro, no information is available to view. For example, I used pcm hammer to pull the bin for my 1mb PCM (Operating System 12592618 Engine Calibration 12591922) there is nothing showing what transmission it is calibrated for, doesn't show what engine size. Should it or am I just completed lost?

    Hello,

Have you also opened an XDF file within Tuner Pro RT that matches OS 12592618?

I have not been able to find one for that OS. One of forums suggested using the 1mb XDF for OS 12587603. I've been using that one. I am trying to swap the 4L60e for a 4L80e segment, but I don't see how you would know what trans calibration is programmed now vs the new trans. What would show me that info. And how would I know that swap segment is actually the one I need?

I have a 7603 with a 4L80E in it but its for a 4.8 liter engine. What engine are you going to in your swap?

I also have a 7603 BIN with a 6.0 motor. These are in the 2004 BIN area on the site here. Segment swap the 7603 parts you need to build the required BIN.

Sorry to sound so ignorant, so I copy the 4L80E segment and put it in my bin? Not sure how to & how do I confirm change . I appreciate your efforts to help me. I will try tonight after work.

    Hello,

I'm not great at segment swaps either because my swap used a more common engine and transmission combo. I might try it using the LS Droid app in the You Tube video below:

Or maybe somebody else around here has a better idea. Not sure if the PCM Hammer app can do a segment swap.

Rick, I have LS Droid. I will try it but I think the OS has to match. I don't think it will let me swap my OS 12592618 bin with 12587603 segments but I will try it and see. I will post the result when I have it.
    Again, thanks for your input.

In the file area I mention above, there is a 7603 BIN with a 6.0 engine and a 7603 BIN with a 4L80E transmission. We segment swap between these two BINS to create and save a third BIN that is completely new but suitable for your swap.

What I think you are missing is that you are about to completely abandon your 12592618 original BIN and replace it with whatever you name that third BIN I mention above. Definitely save off a copy of it but its of little use to you unless somebody made an XDF for it.

Take this third / new BIN and run it through the Tuner Pro RT editing process using the very richly featured 7603 XDF we have. Then copy that into your PCM.

    Hello Again,

I guess that LS Droid segment swap capability actually works and your line of questioning here pushed me to actually attempt it. I now have a 7603 BIN with a 6.0 engine and a 4L80E transmission that merely needs VATS killed off, idle RPM chosen as desired and the various relevant DTC's and systems turned off . Maybe 30 minutes of work remains here in Tuner Pro RT to have a thoroughly usable 1 megabyte BIN for a P59 PCM.

And thank you. I have wanted to do this and learn it for a while and your posts here gave me that impetus. I might write my new BIN to my test mule P59 tomorrow and see how it works. Its Half Price Sale Day tomorrow at my local junk yard which gives me an excellent reason to go purchase another P59 for $18 USD.

Oh, I get it. I saved a copy of my 618 bin. I'll work on the 7603 swap and save a copy, then clone the 7603 to my PCM. I can use LS Droid or PCM Hammer. I'll try working with them both. Thank you.

I didn't see this post before I wrote back. I'll try it so that I could learn, but if I have any issues, could you share the bin?
Are you using the latest version of LS droid? Mine keeps freezing up when loading the primary os file.

Same for me using the latest version of LS Droid. One version older worked for me - no freezing. Sure, I can share the BIN if yours does not work but I have faith yours will work, no problem. I also have a long list of things to change for DTC's etc. and I have already edited my swapped 7603 for idle RPM (I like 650 RPM) and that long list of DTC's. If you need the DTC list or the swapped BIN file . . . let me know.

I am going to try my hand at it. If I have a problem with the bin file I will contact you.
