    Hello fellow and lady gearheads.

    This is a great spot that's got me out of a jam or two recently.
    But like a lot of you who have tried their hand at tuning, I found myself leaving my keys in the ignition and a battery charger hooked to my LT1, and a laptop in the passenger seat. With a copy of the latest Flashback on the screen. So as midnight came and went my head hit the pillow and visions of bricks stacking up around me filled my mind.
    So here I am, looking for answers, I've got no kids a trophy wife too many projects to list and one leg to stand on, what else is there to say...

    No worries if you "Brick" your PCM flashing it, TunerCats can replace the flash chip that's inside the computer: http://www.tunercat.com/ I can personally vouch for TunerCats flash chip repairs, been there for flash chip repair more times than I want to admit.

    Thanks Dave was able to recover and write a full edit by repairing a plug to the evap solenoid that was causing noise on the aldl bus and also turning off the battery charger as well.
    Insofar as flashing my first ecu went, id say successful. Still running a little lean at idle.

    there's always been some ads. the ads are pretty random, it's just a script i plunked in there that inserts ads. sometimes it's one, sometimes it's many. i figure most people use ad blockers anyway, the ad revenue pays for a chunk of the web hosting

    still have not had a report of flashhack bricking an ecu, except that one guy who failed during an erase and then decided to press 'read' instead, an odd choice i didn't really plan for...

    Hiya Steveo

    I updated my laptop last weekend & reflashed using Flashhack for the first time, & installed EEHack 4.93 from 4.91
    The upload worked great, no issues.
    On the datalog though it reported the AFRTarget as 0.40 and never changed.
    Everything else seems OK. I haven't had a chance to delve any further.

    It could be a missing "afr target" patch in the bin file you have flashed.

    The bin was edited on the PC with TunerPro, same as usual and then flashed with Flashhack in the car rather than EEHack 4.91.
    Where would it have lost the patch?

    there is definitely a new procedure

    eehacks patches used to be installed in-stream when you were using eehack as the flash tool. this allowed me to reach my goal of adding ecm-side functionality without breaking my "eehack is not a bin editor" rule. eehack never altered your bin in any way

    nowadays flashhack supersedes eehack's onboard flash tool.... and flashhack is not really associated with eehack... so you need to add those patches to your bin the old fashioned way. they are in current versions of EEX xdf

    I really had no problem using your software and the user friendly interface is what have me the guts to start tuning before I probably should have, but so far so good. I'm barely literate in any computer skills but would like to offer any help I can testing or ?. I'm just scratching the surface of the tuning game and desperate to get a richer tune installed asap, mechanically the car is tip top but the list of parts needed is growing fast.ie pump,injectors,regultr..
    Any pointers towards recent articles or info would be awesome, I can't believe how far behind I am, this area of auto moding passed me by completely. Time to catch up

    man a turbo build is a rough first tuning project but at least its low boost.

    are you going to run a 2 bar map sensor or what and are you somewhat familiar with what that entails? the stock tables and map sensor are only good with vacuum, not boost

    i have seen some people keep the stock map sensor with a maf with smaller turbo builds, downside is you pretty much only have one column of timing advance for 'on boost', and if the maf ever fails, you would want to keep it out of boost because speed density wont work

    Well yeah now you know me that's me in a nut shell. Never the easy way.
    The map sensor and maf have been my last couple nights study and I have no conclusion yet. And I'm not at all familiar with any of this yet. My head is spinning from all the variables and my notes look like gibberish. But if all else fails there's a dynotuner about 50 miles away in vancouver.
    Can the map and maf tables be modified to handle boost? Is there a better method?
    Sorry for the freshman questions but I'm hungry for info and really need this build to work, right now its to lean to drive in closed loop. But all sensors are working and wideband gauge is almost ready to start logging but need how to hook gauge to laptop. I think its the same as aldl to laptop.
    Anyway I'd like to richen the mix or be told its ok to log data at this point. Haven't driven it in a week since gauge started working correctly. Shows full lean unless i blip the throttle.
    As for the stock map/maf idea, sounds like my kinda option, foolhardy and slightly dangerous. I was thinking I should double check my maf reads correct as I descreened and port matched it before I knew any better.

    your stock map sensor is good for 1 bar of pressure. 1 bar is pretty much atmospheric pressure. any pressure above that above that (when you are in boost) just registers as 1 bar of pressure.

    if you use a MAF sensor the MAP sensor isn't really necessary for 'in boost' **fueling** calculations

    however the MAP sensor is also used for spark advance so if you use the stock sensor you will only have one column of spark advance to play with from 0psi to 5psi of boost

    if you do not use a MAF sensor you have to use speed density for fueling and you definitely need that 2 bar sensor

    if you use a 2 bar map sensor your ECM will see 1 bar of pressure as half the sensor output so 50kpa in your table will be 100kpa in reality

    you can either change the column labels in the tunerpro XDF file or just do it in your head. i think 50kpa will be 0psi and 85kpa will be 5psi (but please do the math again, i'm just going from memory)

    lots of stuff needs to change too for example if you don't lower the MAP value for DFCO it will start kicking in while cruising (since it will see 25kpa but in reality your manifold pressure will be 50kpa). hope this makes some kind of sense

    ok so i will go buy a 2bar, and ive got to let you know... i'm incredulous that you've been at this for so long. kudos for all you do for the hobby/passion of hotrodding.
    my head is going to explode, i cant read anymore posts, im having brain-fry. do you have any video instruction for bin downloading-moding-uploading. i thought i just needed the eehack, eex definitions, to datalog and change bins. but i think i need something else.
    I did get my wbo2 connected to laptop thru the A/C and had info populating eehack with the key on engine off. Explored the program and poked around but really cant go further w/o logging.but i cant data log any further than the length of my extension cord. when i start car it glitches my laptop which is connected to power port. I feel that sd is the way to go, but not at all comfortable doing any of this, with the threat of ruining my engine. but maybe watching it being done will give me the confidence to try this..
