    16197427, TBI, and a supercharger?

High level question: Can a 16197427 work with a MAP sensor that reads boost and vacuum? If I want to run a supercharger, are there other hardware changes I need to make to my EFI other than the MAP sensor and fuel pressure?

The quick answer is yes, use a 2 bar MAP sensor. The 1 bar and 2 bar MAP sensors are 0 volt to 5 volts. 1 bar Map is 0 Kpa - 100 Kpa. 2 bar MAP is 0 Kpa to 200 Kpa.

The 2 Bar Map will work, with a reduced resolution. Natural aspiration MAP (0 - 100 Kpa) will be approximately half with a 2 Bar Map. So with a 2 Bar Map the natural aspiration for 0 - 100 Kpa will be approximately 0 volt to 2.5 volts. Reducing the resolution is not optimal, and works as effectively as a V8 engine running on 4 good cylinders.

What you are saying makes perfect sense but is it really that drastic? V8 running on 4 cylinders? I would think it would be more like measuring with a ruler vs. measuring with a micrometer...

I'm thinking more like cutting the ruler in half or cutting the micrometer in half. It's not an accuracy comparison, it's a length of scale comparison.

It is important to use the correct scale for the 2 BAR MAP. The voltage <> pressure map does not correspond to a 50% split at low range. OEM 2 BAR calibrations sometimes have a wider range between table increments as MAP increases. This allows more refinement at low pressure where part throttle fueling can be harder to bring in line.

This graph, taken from the liink posted above, shows the difference:

rgr that. Maybe what I will do is buy a 2 Bar MAP now/soon, plug it in while I am still NA, and run a few BINs to get used to it before I buy a supercharger. That will tell me if I stick with my current EFI setup or chuck it when I add boost.

The EFI system your using is good. Upgrade to Dynamic EFI, which offers "TBI & BOOST". http://www.dynamicefi.com/EBL_Flash.php

Contact Dynamic EFI for special instructions for using either the 4L60E or 4L80E with EBL_Flash.

That's not a bad idea. Rebuild the calibration in the 1 BAR area to get it right before going boost.
