    1995 k1500 LS upgrade thoughts

    Hi everyone.

The truck is approaching 190k miles and the stock L05 and 4L60e are getting tired. I have a complete low mileage 2005 5.3 With ECM and harness left over from another project. Looking for input on swapping this into my truck.

One initial question. Should I rebuild my trans and keep the 427 ECM to control trans only, or go find a late model trans compatible with my LS computer?

    look forward to ideas

    thanks

There are multiple options, some budget friendly other not budget friendly.

The option to use the newer 4L60E and eliminate the 16197427 will also eliminate the need for custom chip.

There is the option to use the Camaro TPI fuel pump because the Camaro TPI pump is a direct fit replacement for the TBI fuel pump.

Some of the old 16197427 computer can be repurposed:
    ALDL (with modifications for OBD2)
Check engine light / Service Engine Soon light
    Battery + / Battery -
    Fuel Pump Relay
    Ignition On / Start
Splicing into the 5.3 Liter PCM VSS signal for the 1995 K1500 DRAC / VSS will work for the dash speedometer. (observing correct polarity)

With some forward thinking / fabrication, the dash oil pressure gauge, voltmeter gauge, air condition control wiring can repurposed.

There is also the option to install dual electric radiator cooling fans with custom programming of the 5.3 liter PCM.

Look into your trans carefully- there was some odd stuff going on 1994/95- you'll be into a new converter for the LS, I would try to getting matching year trans for package.

Ditch the 95 trans. 95 is one year only wiring for TCC solenoids. Plus would need aftermarket flywheel and hub spacer to fit 95 case and converter to 5.3. Also look for 04+ 4L60e as the force motor changed and you want to pair it with the ECM.

I think you can get conversion converters that do away with the adapters- but why bother.

Do you know how the later model trans bolts to the ‘95 transfer case? I think later model has more extension housing bolts. Does it just use a different adapter between trans and t-case? Thanks
