Welcome to the forum. 30+ years ago I built a Scarab clone and it was fast enough to get me into a bunch of trouble. I can only imagine an LS powered version.
Keeping traction is def a problem. I need to add flares to it so I can get a 275 tire at least. I will add a cam to it but other than that I am not in the need for a ton of power in it.
Are you still running IRS? I went through a pile of U joints in my 240 before helping the R&P to achieve escape velocity on a hard 1-2 shift. I installed a 280ZX diff but it really could have used a stronger rear.
