    Cool Hello!

Hello everyone! I’m new to the tuning world, just looking for free tuning Software for 96-97
    LT1’s . I’m building a 383 Stroker for my ‘96 Trans Am.
i’m planning to upgrade to 24x conversion with a Vortec/LS PCM using an EFI Connection
Signal kit. I’m going to run the LT4 Hotcam, 24lbs. Ford Blue top injectors,
ported stock heads, 1.6 rockers. My car has the T56 six speed Transmission.
I’m hoping someone can help a brother out. Looking forward to hearing all your wisdom.
    thanks!

there's nothing free out there and also the definition files aren't really worked through yet

the easiest solution would be to just swap in a 94-95 ecm (really easy to do especially on an M6, it pretty much just plugs in) and you can use all my free software stuff to tune it

or wait until an unknown amount of time until i support that ecm

edit: oh i just read you're swapping the ECM for 24x, that's a different story

    Steveo,
Thanks for the reply! If swapping an older PCM is the ticket to making
the mods I’m doing. As i mentioned, I'm planning The 24x down the road,
But i want to get this engine up and running with the cam and injectors,
and, since this is a 383 stroker, the added displacement will need some tweaks
for sure. Where do i start? Do I need to build a bench programing cable or?
Let me know where to start.
    Thanks!

nah just program it in the car

    you'll need:

    - an aldl cable
    - a 1994 or 1995 ecm (preferably from an fbody so you get the correct knock module?)
    - all the software in my signature

you can add a connector to pin 30 on the blue connector of the ecm to your aldl interface and just program with that, all you need is that D30 pin and ground to run the interface

otherwise it just kinda plugs in and works

    Steveo,
I have an ALDL cable i purchased from Moates like 14 years ago....Loli bought it for a TBI
1991 Camaro i had at the time. It has the serial port connector that plugs into the laptop, has
a red lead and a black lead you plug into the aldl terminal. Is that good enough to do what i need
to tune? I already have a laptop, not even a year old now.
One question I have for you, if i get a ‘94-‘95 f body PCM, how do i get past the vats for the previous
    Car? Let me know.
    Thanks!

    yeah that should work

vats? just disable it in your tune, and leave the old vats module in place so your starter enable still works. (or bypass it entirely if you like)

Steveo, your mail box is full tried to pm you but cant.
    Any way’s:
    Steveo,
ok, where can i read a good tutorial on how to tune one
of these PCMs from start to finish? I know your saying
“delete Vats from my tune” So, just so I'm on the same
page here, once i download and install your programs,
hooking up the ALDL cable to the car and the laptop, i
I should be able to delete Vats from the get go? I wasnt
even sure i could load the program with VATs active.
I'm hoping you can bring me up to speed on how to do this.
    thanks!

get your existing bin file with flashhack
load the eex definition file and the bin into tunerpro
make changes in tunerpro and save
write the new revised bin back to the ecm with flashhack

    Steveo,
I found a 1994 LT1 PCM, i dont know if the car it came out of had an auto trans or manual trans,
does that really matter? If i use a Bin file from an M6 car, should be good right?
My next question, I have a ‘96 obdII system, do you which pins i need to remove or simply unpin?
Im going to compare the schematics from a ‘94 against a ‘96 model, shouldn't be that hard.
    Thanks again for the info!

you need a wire going from pin 9 of the ALDL (bottom left) to pin 30 on the blue ECM connector

everything else should be the same

it doesn't matter if it's a 94 or 95, auto or manual, they're the same for a manual car, but you'd want the f-body knock module

    Steveo,
Well, it took me a minute to find the “Red” text, lol. So, the factory ALDL plug on my 1996 Trans am is an OBDII and the pin #9 of the ALDL goes directly to the blue PCM connector pin 30, and the rest of the wires listed in “Red” get “un-pinned”
Right? I started adding all if your software to my laptop, so once i get my PCM, i can start looking over everything.
    Thanks again!

you don't need to unpin anything, just leave them alone

third time i'm telling you this so i'll quote it

you can add a connector to pin 30 on the blue connector of the ecm to your aldl interface and just program with that, all you need is that D30 pin and ground to run the interface

otherwise it just kinda plugs in and works

    Steveo,
Today I installed the ‘94 PCM today, hooked up my TTL/USB aldl cable to
Pin 30 and Ground, turned the key to “on” and opened “Flashhack”, I kept getting error messages saying
“Buss is silent” My laptop shows COM port 3 and my aldl shows up, any ideas where i went wrong?
I’m totally new to this tuning stuff, so I apologize if i misunderstood your instructions.
Also, the PCM i got was “Supposedly” out of a 94’ Z28, had no decal on it, so who knows.
My stock PCM has the service number 16230171 BDSX and 86BSDXK261011KEA, happen to know
If this is a stock F body PCM

bus is silent isnt an error, what is the actual error?
are you running the latest version?
its possible you have no connection due to a wiring issue or a dead ecm
