    pulling codes on 1994 LT1

I've learned that I cant just do the paper clip trick on a 94 Z28 with LT1 engine. It's OBD1 but still requires a code reader.

What is the least expensive way for me to acquire the ability to pull the codes on this car myself? What cable, software or other stand alone scanners are my lease expensive options?

    Thanks

Another thing to consider is go ahead and get what can do more than just read codes. I figure if I'm eventually wanting to tune, set up now with more advanced stuff.

    Ideas and opinions are appreciated...

Ok, ordered that. Stepping in the right direction. Thanks for the help.

On fuel pressure. I'm getting 45psi with engine running and regulator vacuum line disconnected. When I connect the line the pressure drops to about 35psi. Does this sound about right? Stock regulator

yeah that sounds about right, but to prove the pump is okay you need to somehow floor it with the gauge attached and ensure the pressure does not decrease as rpm/throttle increases
