    0.6.4 is up
no big changes or new ECMs supported, just bug fixes and ui improvements
i did move the mode 2 read thing to its own module and improved it
should fix the thing jim noticed (lets the bus wake back up on its own)

I'll grab the new version and test it out over the next few days.
Thanks for all the work, Steveo.

Took me a second to figure out the new UI--namely that I had to select one of the options. I just thought the middle section was text explaining what the tool was capable of rather than a menu.

Saw your description under advanced; wanted to let you know my OBDX Pro showed up today. While I don't have any 96-97 LT1/LT4s at present, if there's anything I can help with, as always, I'm around.

it'll be a while before it'll be worked on again, but i think the code is there to get communication working... i haven't actually managed to rig a test ECM up to try. it needs some trial-and-error since the people making the cable haven't fully documented it yet.

one nice thing is it uses the same api as the aldl stuff, so one could write software for the obdxpro by copying things from my aldl flash processors.

Tested the bus wakeup - when the "Give back bus master" configuration option is unchecked it solves the problem for all three cases: vin, cal-id, and the kernel close interface. I still need to run some read/write tests, but the noisy bus issue is cleared up.

    Nice work!

I restored bricked ECM and then I flashed it with my .BIN
    I unchecked:
"Only write side that have changed"
    "Clear MAF tables"
    "Clear auto trans tables"

Was I right or I forget smth?

By unchecking these, you have potentially caused the flash process to run slower, but it will not hurt anything to do so.

    1. Only Write Changed Sides; Won’t apply if you’ve never read from or written to this specific PCM before. The first time you read or write to a new PCM this option is meaningless. But subsequent writes will potentially be much faster if you leave it checked, and it won’t hurt anything. I recommend leaving it checked. It’s actually safer that way, too.

    2. Clear MAF Tables. Only actually does something if you have set the flag in TunerPro to disable MAF operation and run in only Speed Density. Even if you blank it, the stock calibrations are included in the EEXTRA XDF so no big loss.

    3. Clear auto trans tables. Same as #2; only applies if you have a manual transmission. If you have an automatic this does nothing. If you have a manual it will give the flash routine a speed boost.

I do have maf and it is not disabled.
    Also auto tranny.
I just can flash by default settings. Without unchecking anything. Right?

Correct. That’s the whole point of FlashHack actually—to just plain work out of the box on default settings.

with software, it's really hard to find a balance between 'so simple a child could use it' and 'maximum control for edge cases'.. the core problem to solve in UI design.

flashhack is intended to be 100% automatic, changing those parameters does nothing but increase risk (either by making the operation longer, or disabling safety features). a faster reflash is a safer reflash. the only reason those options are there are for people that want to do weird stuff with their bins that i might not anticipate.

you should update flashhack regularly too, the new version has better descriptions for some of those options

Flashed a PCM i bought off a forum. It's a lot faster than TunerCats. I wasn't puckering the whole time waiting for a write failure. I think this is the hottest ticket yet. Thanks for a clean and fast interface. Simple. Now to figure out my tune.

    Cheers

Tested b0.6.4 bin read/write on both F-body and B-body LT1s with no issues. Tested each platform with "Give back bus master" both checked and unchecked.
Tested read, full and partial writes, as well as fingerprinting. It just plain works.

Thumbs up on the interface work too.
