Perhaps you need to use a heated O2 sensor? Single wire O2 sensors should be located very close to or located in the exhaust manifold. The single wire O2 sensor requires the higher exhaust gas temperatures of the exhaust manifold to work correctly.

Dave, I went ahead and installed the three wire O2 sensor and cleaned up my electrical grounds while I was at it. The SBC 350 runs amazingly now.

Here is a log of the run, overall the engine is running well. I need to turn off all the things for datalogging, do some driving and fine tuning. But I am extremely happy with how it is running now.
