2009 Malibu LT Cali emissions problem

Hey guys, been a long time since I've been on here, but I have a problem you guys might be able to help with. I have no experience with EFILive so if you could enlighten me, I would appreciate it.

My wife has a 2009 Malibu LT with the 2.4 Ecotec, it is a California emissions car that includes the secondary air injection pump and valve that, like ours, has issues with moisture and longevity. We obviously don't live in Kommiefornia and don't ever plan on doing so. My wife swears that the emissions codes impact the fuel economy. I would rather remove the unneeded parts instead of replacing them. So here are my questions.

Does anybody have any experience with the Ecotec PCMs? Is it possible that the emissions stuff is simply a bit change for either Cali or Federal? Can the PCM be reflashed with the above mentioned items basically turned off, and then be disconnected/removed?

    Thanks a bunch.

I do not have EFI Live, so I do not have a .ctz file for this car. I am hoping someone here has some experience with this platform that can answer these questions.

Hello, sorry, I misunderstood you. What do you have to read the file out of the computer? Do you know what computer is in the car? I don't have any experience with your particular application but most GM ECM/PCM's all have the same settings available. Yes, there are flags to disable anything you want, federal or California are just settings, no California flag, lol.

When certain things are active, yes, the computer program alters the tuning parameters. When the computer thinks these things are active but they are not it can drastically affect the tune/driveability/fuel mileage. EGR, air pump, etc etc drastically affect this.

Bottom line, yes you can delete anything you want as long as you can get into the program and satisfy those delete's.

Yes, know how the computer works, I am very familiar TunerPro and the OBD1 code, and changing parameters, even accessing the datastream and getting it to spit out different data if needed. But in the TunerPro OBD1 stuff there are some applications that have very little of the code defined to know what you're changing. Similarly according to EFI-Live's website "Adjustable Options vary for each vehicle and are not available on all vehicles". They state all of the usual; Limiters, Idle, Spark, Fuel control, that one would expect from even a basic tuner package but, since I have no experience with THIS program and what is available to change for THIS vehicle, I am asking if anybody has experience tuning THIS application and if EFI Live has these settings defined and available to turn off.
