Trying to be a gear head...looks like I found the right place.

I have a 94 K1500 4.3 vortec w/5spd shortbed, old blue.

Am looking at updating the tired old v6...I will continue to comb through the posts, but currently looks like the 'easiest' upgrade is to find a gently used donor 5.7 within a few years...I am looking at a 2000 Escalade with ECM and harness.

Thinking I could get the motor and peripherals (alt, a/c and so forth), refresh the motor gaskets and seals, change the motor mounts, radiator, fuel regulator and get it to run and then do some logging and find some reputable smallish gearhead here to tune the ecm.

Those are my goals...what sort of money am I looking at? 5-600 for the motor/ecm/harness and my time, gasket and seal set...more time.

Am I correct in my outlook? This is the 'easiest' update?
