Questions regarding 747 ECM and vehicle functions

I'm working on my 1989 K5 that currently has a 747 ECM that was running the stock 5.7 TBI.

I am wanting to move to a newer ECM that is more dummy friendly than trying to burn ships myself.

My question: Will removing the 747 from the truck affect anything else like cruise control, gauges, or anything else not fuel injection related that will be lost on a different ECM?

I plan to keep the 700R4 trans and want a setup that keeps everything working.

One option to consider is upgrading the 1227747 to the new style "Flash Chip". Link to thread below

    http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...sion-(27SF512)

You will still need to flash chips, but NOTHING changes for TCC control, cruise control, gauges, or anything else not fuel injection related that could change with a different ECM

If you need help with the Flash Chip Conversion, myself or other gearhead-efi members with a soldering iron can help you.

Is the supply of flash chips still good? I thought they were running out?

What else is needed to get one running correctly?

Flash chips are available. There are several sources for "cloned" SST 27SF512. I've used both the "cloned" and original SST 27SF512 chips without any problems. Not all "cloned" SST 27SF512 will work with the Moates.net Burn 2, which is frustrating. I have a Moates.net Burn 2 and a Batronix BX32P chip programmer ( https://www.newark.com/batronix/bx32...14_US%2Fsearch ) The BX32P is ultra OVERKILL for the chips used in TBI computers, but hey I program chips for other things besides TBI chips. The BX32P has some very nice features, including the ability to flash all variants of the "cloned" SST 27SF512 chips.

I forgot to add that I have that Edelbrock MPFI intake that I may use if the performance gain is worth it. If not I can stick with TBI to keep it simple.

I am concerned that tuning will be another huge hassle. Anyone in Middle TN that wants to help tune it?

What all would I need to get set up?

What about a Moates APU1 setup?

8 injectors is better than 2 injectors.

That's what I have. Getting a starter chip then getting it tuned are needed immediately. Do you have a tune for this setup? Cam has 204/208 duration

Edelbrock MPFI kit runs very well. You can get the EBL Flash that is already modified to MPI. Has several nice startup calibrations as well. The 204/208 cam is smaller than the factory 9C1 Caprice TBI cam.

That looks like a contender as well. I have most everything to make it work now including a Holley 670 TBI with the injectors removed.

None of the vehicle functions will be affected, except possibly the cruise control, I'll have to look up the wiring diagrams to refresh my memory. Even if it is, there are easy ways around that.

The gauges are connected directly to sensors, and not run through the ECM.

So, if I'm understanding correctly ... your requesting help with a 1227747 MPFI starter chip?

I am not sure what I need just yet.

I have the 1989 Blazer with a 747 ECM with the stock 350 TBI chip

Vortec 383 with mild roller cam installed

I have the Edelbrock MPFI Vortec intake and a Holley 670 throttle body with the injectors removed

From here I am at a crossroads. Do I get a starter chip, go with a piggyback system like Dynamic EFI or Moates Autoprom, or swap to a 411 setup?

I don't want to trash everything an stick a Pro Flo 4 on it yet.
