    eehack issues

So i recently bricked my pcm in my 95 z28. I was having driveabilty issues and reflashed the stock tune into it to see if it was the problem. Ended up being a opti issue. So i went to reflash my tune into the pcm and it is now a brick. During the flash it had numerous errors on the first side went it went to flash the other side it didnt take. it showed code 13. Then it wouldnt start and the were on. I went to the junk yard and found a 95 z28 pcm. Installed it and fired right up. I connected eehack up to it and there are numerous errors over 170 of them inside of 3 minutes. Could this be the aldl cable or some other module messing with the network? I need to put my tune back in cause this car is lazy now

Looks similar to issues I have with my '94 Corvette. Unless it happens on every ALDL car you plug into I wouldn't suspect the cable, especially if it previously was working fine. My '94 has errors like yours (though not as bad--200 in about 30 minutes or so), and my '95 is rock-solid. When I put the '94's PCM into the '95 it worked fine, so there's something in the chassis that's different or wrong. I suspect grounds but haven't had time to yank the battery out and start digging through the wiring to check.

I haven't yet figured out what's causing the problem on the '94, but for that car I only use CATS WinFlash for flashing. I've flashed at least 10 times with it and it's been fine. EEHack only works on my '95 for reading/flashing.

Going forward, I'd try reading the ROM first to see if you can get a successful read before trying a flash. Worst case you just end up having to yank the ECM fuse to clear the read program from RAM if it fails rather than bricking a PCM. I see you're in CA. If you don't mind, I could try to revive your "dead" PCM and put your old tune back on it at the same time. I have a tool that should let me bench-flash the PCM but haven't tested it yet. I'd be happy to give it a shot on yours for just the cost of shipping if you don't mind being a guinea pig. :)

i don't see any similarities to the issues you're having, nomakewan. i suspect the cable in this case. what brand is it?

i have hundreds of people running eehack on fbodies and nobody just randomly gets hundreds of errors or major problems flashing, but y-bodies are not well tested. with f-bodies 99% of the time it ends up being the cable.

steveo, it's the error messages he's getting. Those are the same errors I noticed in my own logs on the '94 is all.

I've gotten 1 successful read but the 3 other times it ends up with errors. I could probably just drop the pcm off. I'm in city of orange often for work

Nice! I live in the city of Orange, so that works. Send me a PM whenever you're ready and I'll see if we can work something out.
