    GM swap and E-prom information

I swapped a v8 5.7 TBI into a 1995 GMC truck. I have the 16197427 computer but the Prom number I need is BPUX # 16221008. The problem is I can not find any to replace with my V6 prom. It is a 5.7 M30 trans, GU6 rear end and considerd a C1 Platform. The chip BJYX was superseded to the BPUX. What is the best way to find one of these, been online and at the Junk yards none match. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Dave ended up with a BJYK. Truck runs good but I have the EGR deleted causing a back fire when the computer adv the timing. I saw a post a while back somewhere that you use a ALDL cable, TunerPro R and the Moates burner2. Would you still recommend these to make changes in the bin files or would you recommend others like ostridge 2 or the APU1 Set up.
    Thanks

The two most popular tuning setups are:

    1.
    ALDL Cable
    TunerPro RT
    Moates Burn2
    G1 Adapter Board http://www.moates.net/g1-memory-adap...-etc-p-32.html
    27SF512 Chip http://www.moates.net/c2-sst-27sf512-chip-p-39.html
    ZIF Socket http://www.moates.net/s4-aries-28pin....html?cPath=26 - Optional
    HDR1 http://www.moates.net/hdr1-memcal-he....html?cPath=64 - Optional

    OR
    2.
    ALDL Cable
    TunerPro RT
    G1 Adapter Board http://www.moates.net/g1-memory-adap...-etc-p-32.html
    Ostrich 2.0 http://www.moates.net/ostrich-20-the....html?cPath=64

The Ostrich 2.0 has a good resale value, if you want to recoup some of the tuning expenses after the tuning is complete.

Thanks Dave, I understand how the burner 2 works. I have a question on the ostrich 2.0 I looked everywhere on moates ostricjh 2.0 and internet and cant find what to do after you make changes on the fly. Do i have to leave it connected or does it burn chips too?

Basically the Ostrich 2.0 replaces the chip. The Ostrich 2.0 is programmed with TunerPro RT using a USB cable.

Might consider BJYL as well. Most of the 94-95 5.7 4l60e trucks use that memcal.

Does the rear end matter in the MEMCAL I have a GU6 3.42 rear end.

I can find a BJYK that is a GU6 (3.08) rear end code or a BJYL that is a GT4 (3.73) Which one will work best or does it matter. My truck has a GU6 (3.42) rear end
    Thanks for everyone's Help

The ratio doesn't matter. The ratio/tire size is calculated in the Drac/VSSB (little white box) before imputed into the PCM.
