    Hello from a late-blooming LT1 tuner in Canton MI

    Hi all, I'm a life-long gearhead (52 years old) who's just getting into tuning with a 1994 C4 LT1/4AT. I bought this car a few months ago and drove it home from Jacksonville FL.

    The C4 is not the main project car, however. I'm cutting up a 1965 Corvair, installing the C4 front and rear suspensions, attaching the LT1 to an Audi 6-speed manual transaxle, and installing it where the backseat used to be, ie mid-engine RWD. I've sold off most of the non-essential C4 bits and still have a running / driving "death kart".

    Anyway, beyond the basic disabling VATS, EGR, and 4L60E stuff, my short-term plan includes installing the LT4 Hot Cam kit, and my long-term plan includes two small turbochargers and water/air intercoolers.

    I'm in Canton MI, which is between Detroit and Ann Arbor. I'm a brake systems engineer in the auto industry, been doing this since 1993.

    I've learned a bunch from reading through various threads so far, and I'm looking forward to learning more as I get this project off the ground in the next couple weeks.

    Welcome, I've only done a few LT1 tunes but there are quite a few really good LT1 guys here that have written some incredible software packages. I think you will enjoy this forum.

    A little background and a couple of questions:

    I'm doing a standalone LT1 swap using an early '94 Corvette (the dreaded EEB) as the single-source donor. I am about 2/3 through parting out the Corvette, and have removed engine, trans, PCM, all wiring, and all other modules including the Central Control Module (CCM) which is the master of the Corvette bus communications. I know there's a handshake between the CCM and the PCM which must be complete for the PCM to enable the fuel injectors.

    Question: If I wanted to reflash PCM using a Camaro bin so I could get rid of the CCM, must I have the CCM in place for this first reflash since the PCM currently self-identifies as a Corvette PCM?

    actually im pretty sure if you just use fbody mode you're good to go. there will be no bus master without the ccm so fairly easy for eehack to take over

    The hardware side of the PCM is the same for all applications, so it's not necessary to keep the CCM at all. Just connect directly to the PCM and flash it with whatever tune you want. You'll have to turn-off the VATS in the tune no matter which one you use, which is pretty much what you'd do if you did keep the Vette tune. But, you really don't want to keep that EEB tune so might as well just go F-body or B-body.

    Thanks for the input, guys. Sounds like the EE bin for F-Body 6MT is the way to go. I'll keep you posted as I make progress.
