Question Chip read or burned wrong? $31

I'm not sure if these Questions should be here or tune pro talk so I'll start her.
This is my first attempt to modify or even mess with a chip, and I thought I had this kinda figured out, until…

I copied the original memcal as a 27C512, and then used a $31 v250 definitions, (the mask ID from the chip said it was a 31 according to the parameter summery list in Tune Pro rt ).
I modified the program, burned the chip as a 27SF512 that I got from moates, put the chip on the G1 adaptor and tried to fire up my truck, it coughed once then just cranked. (I never put the limp mode chip on the G1 until later where it did run in limp mode)
I then re-burned the chip with the original program, and it still just cranked, I then put the original chip on the memcal adaptor then to the G1 and it fired and ran fine.
(Verifying it was a burned chip problem)

The bin file that I copied from the original memcal said it was a 32k file, so I used the 32k offset 000000 > 007FFF and 8000 > 00FFFF to burn it to the 27C512 chip.

I tried to again copy the bin from the memcal using the 27C256 chip setting from the flash and burn, and all the info was crazy, (spark tables looks like a bumpy mt. range) so I’m assuming that is the wrong chip read setting.
I then went back to the original bin file I copied from the memcal as a 27C512 and looked at it in the hex editor. The first info on the chip starts at 00004000 and ends at 00007FFF.

I won’t be back to the truck or the chip burner until Sunday, but as I go through the info I’m wondering if this is a 16k chip and I’m reading the memcal wrong, and the chip read setting I’m using (27C512) is changing it to a 32k bin or if I’m using the wrong offsets? Maybe I need to use the 16k offset? 000000 > 003FFF and 004000 > 007FFF to burn the 27C512 chip? But the 16k settings show it is for a AT29C256 chip.

Also I noticed that the file positions according to the HEX Editor are 8 digits long and all the offset setting are only 6 digits long, is this a problem or are they just dropping the first 2-0 digits?.

I’m just a little confused now, and any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated.
