    Optispark rotor tip painted?

I am in the process a reassembling a ‘95 firebird. I opened the distributor everything looked ok before I sealed it up.

Am I crazy or is this rotor tip painted ?

I cant get a resistance reading or connectivity chirp anywhere on the top of this thing in the black areas.

i can’t get one from the center silver piece to the tip either.

I scratched off some of the tip to see and connectivity is successful

It must be painted on purpose. To prevent spark arcing on foggy wet conditions. You shouldn`t be worry if there is paint on the tip, it will get burned on the first run. There is to much voltage for any paint to resist.

Ok thanks, I just wasn’t sure. Most rotors I’ve done on these distributors are either a silver or copper color
