    Looking for PCM recommendations

I am finalizing the parts choices on my engine swap. Working on a 1989 K5 Blazer 4x4 w/ 4.56 gears and 35s. Currently has a TBI 350/700R4 in it

I just snagged a Vortec 383 and have an older Edelbrock Vortec MPFI system and a Holley 670 throttle body.

I can either use my existing ECM and get someone to burn my ships and hope for the best or I may try to swap a harness and PCM out of a later vehicle like and Express van with a Vortec then I can learn my own programming.

I'd like to swap but am having a hard time finding a harness and PCM from a 0411 equipped van.

    I did find a 494 and harness from a 2000 5.7 van

I could use another setup but want to be able to tune myself.

    Recommendations?

Does the Vortec 383 have the 4x crank trigger wheel and crank position sensor timing cover?

Having the 4x crank trigger wheel and crank position sensor timing cover allows the option of using an '0411 with a modified 2002 Express Van 5.7 liter flash.

If you would like more technical information about using the '0411 on the Vortec 383, please post back.

If you would like details for an '0411 harness and computer or possibly other parts, please send me a Private Message (PM).

I'm not in the habit of trolling the board for business, but perhaps we can make a deal?

I have experience using the '0411 with the Edelbrock MPFI system: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...2313#post62313

The '0411 is an excellent OBD2 option, mostly because there is likely a good '0411 "Tuner" near you?

D.I.Y. '0411 "Tuning" can be expensive with a steep learning curve.

D.I.Y. OBD1 "Tuning" (TunerPro RT) is no where near as expensive as EFI Live software / hardware or HP Tuners software / hardware typically used for "tuning the '0411!

D.I.Y. OBD1 "Tuning" has a steep learning curve.

The ultimate question is; who is going to do the tuning?

You can tune a 411 with a $40 cable and free software, as of a couple weeks ago. :)

Just know that you're dealing with very new software, so there might be some surprises along the way...
