    Using a $61 bin on a $62 ecm, damage?

    Here's the skinny.

Currently tuning a essentially stock 93 Roadmaster with the $62 mask 16136965 ECM.

Car is running alright, but the .xdf is not as filled out as the $61 mask files.

In a post (http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...light=16136965) Eagle-Mark is trying to get a dissassembly for the $62 mask. The question was posed if it could be swapped to a $61 mask.

What would happen if I programmed a chip for the different mask and it didn't work? Would it fry the rest of the computer or just run terrible. I'm on the edge of buying an ebay ECM and trying it, but if I did that I might as well just swap to the $61 ecm anyway.

It'd be nice to use a more fleshed out mask.

Sorry if this has already been answered 20 times in the last decade, but I didn't find it.

    Thanks!

i doubt it'll work, they're written for fairly different ECMs. will it fry it if you try? as long as the chips are the same type and size, i have to say...probably not. it might just crash or something, or do bizarre crap like try to fire an injector with the coil driver.

Was afraid of that, oh well, no biggie.

I'll probably just upgrade to the 7427 PCM, which will get me all the options I could possibly want it seems + give me more freedom when I start upgrading the engine.

    Thanks!
