Exhaust cutout - suggestions to force shut

    Good evening everyone.
I’ve just uncorked my exhaust cutout this evening.(Jegs electric)
However it won’t stay completely shut.
Closing it lasts a few seconds and then it opens a tiny amount.

I’d thought of biasing the control wire to feed a small current to the motor to hold it closed.
Any thoughts if this might work without burning out the motor.
    Any other ideas?

I've seen a trick done using a light bulb to supply power to the motor. It will be a low enough resistance when not lit to move the motor but change to a high enough resistance to current limit and avoid damage to the motor. I would start small and work up to bigger bulbs until it works to open and close with the bulb left in circuit all the time.

    Thanks.
I’m kicking around a couple of thoughts on it now.

What did you end up doing for this?

I ran several types/brands of cutouts in the past. ALL of them were leaky except the DMH cutouts I used last.

I tried a few resistors and 470ohm would still just operate the motor.
I was thinking a bit less power through it would hold it closed.
It seemed to work with a 1k pot I found in my parts bin.
I think need to replace the 5 pin switch that comes with the cutout to a 6 pin dpdt and add a pair of diodes so it will supply a small leakage when in the off position.
I haven’t thought this through yet

Did you try the light bulb? It works. Motor will close then bulb comes on which supplies a little current to the motor that keeps it closed.
