    New to tuner world

Hello , I'm new to tuning, that is reprogramming. I'm an old fart from the days of points and carburetors, came up through the evolution of electronic ignition, HEI, EFI, TBI, TPFI, TPI, MPFI, SPFI, DFI, and current technology. I just don't have the hands-on experience of tuning the monster. I need all the help I can get in that area.

I am building a 1990 GMC Jimmy (CA) 4X4, 700R4, 2100 rpm stall converter, 3.08 Gears, 32 in tires. 383 SBC , .485 lift comp cams Hyd. Roller cam (1500-5500 rpm), 50-state Edelbrock #80759 Heads w/ Edelbrock 50-state #8502 TBI to Port (Multi-port or gang-fired) conversion, Big Block TBI throttle body, injectors removed, modified for the 700R4, Tuner Pro software to program the 7747 ECM that is modified for port fuel injection and is reprogram-able using a USB cable. The system will be using eight, 29 gph injectors. Gears will be changed soon to 3.73.

Any suggestions on a bin and any programming modifications for this? Any help is appreciated.

I like your plans, except the 1227747. The 16197427 TBI computer can be set up / correctly converted for TRUE MPFI. The 1227747 CAN NOT be configured for TRUE MPFI! Yes, the 1227747 will work, just like a set of worn out points! Throw away the worn out points, and convert to HEI!

I'm still young enough to remember when "cams" had a choppy idle, even at 1100 RPM. Fast forward a few decades, the 16197427 TBI computer has two sets of fuel and spark tables, idle and off idle. The 16197427 PCM is the best of both worlds, "Tame" the choppy idle with idle fuel and spark tables. Then go "WILD" with the Off Idle fuel and spark tables. The 1227747 will get you going, so you will be able to see tail lights all day long!

Hello Dave, I purchased my modified 747 from Dynamic EFI about 5 or 6 years ago. I have not installed it yet because I was still building the engine and squeezing all the miles I could get from my existing 365k mile engine. I've decided to go ahead with the swap this Summer. I purchased the ECM outright, not providing my own core. Would you still recommend the 16197427 ECM or is the modified ecm upgraded to perform better, and would I need to modify the harness or move terminals to different pins? Does the 16197427 have IAT input as well? If you have other information or suggestions pertaining to the ecm swap would you provide that? Thanks for the input Dave

Absolutely, the Dynamic EFI is a solid system!! If I were in your position and had a Dynamic EFI system, I would use it!

I have good to advanced tuning skills with factory systems, so I use what I know best.

FYI, the base timing tables offered by Dynamic EFI will work, but ARE NOT OPTIMAL. Typically Dynamic EFI spark tables need tuning to get that VROOM / VROOM feeling we what.

The challenge is publicly posting Dynamic EFI files on a public forum like gearhead-efi.com.
