What does a blended open throttle table to closed throttle VE table look like, I was never sure if the open throttle should be directly copied across where possible or some other combination.
I've seen it mentioned a few times but I never found a good example of what the blended tables should look like when they're done properly.
Under the heading "a pictures worth a thousand words", does anyone have a couple of screen shots showing a good example? I could probably figure it out from there.
in areas where transitions may occur, the transition is as small as possible where the tables overlap, that's all.
where you commonly cross between the two tables, how big of a change occurs?
if it's quite large, lets say 10%+, you might want to narrow the gap a bit, especially if driveability needs improvement in that area. if it feels nice during that transition spot, it can probably be left alone.
fueling can be a bit self blending in systems with fairly slow injection event to combustion time.. for example tbi engines at low rpm, the long distance between the injector and the combustion chamber means that a hard blip in fueling may just smooth itself out in the manifold. i've found engines like that don't care too much if a transition between tables is harsh. this means although blending is good just to prove your tables are good even in odd spots, it might not be very necessary.
in reality a naturally 'good tune' will already have the tables fairly well blended, as fueling shouldn't be that inconsistent between tables, so if you've done a good job, you don't have much work to do there. similar to smoothing within the ve table itself, if you find you have to do heavy 'blending' in a certain area, it's probably because you blew it when you constructed that area of the table in the first place.
