Are you still using the original 1992 305 TPI computer?

Perhaps you are up to the challenge of doing the chip yourself?

Link of information for the stock computer you are using: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...Information-8D

There is some "Internet Hype" about custom chips, "tell us EVERYTHING you did to the engine" so we can sell you a chip. The Hype is simply that, Hype!

Some helpful thoughts about building your own "Starter Chip".

Start with a known good factory chip file, or .bin file. Verify the injector flow rate in the "Starter Chip" is correct. Remove unnecessary functions like VATS and / or Emissions. Find a factory ZZ4 camshaft timing table and adapt that timing table to the "Starter Chip". Perhaps a Factory LT4 timing table is close enough if you can find a ZZ4 camshaft timing table.

The expense of your engine build is not the typical "Budget Build", so include a Wide Band Oxygen Sensor (WBO2) Gauge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXqTxrzjwNA The WBO2 IS A MUST HAVE TOOL! Would anybody in there right mind using an Eagle rotating assembly not use a calibrated torque wrench? I would use a calibrated torque wrench even on a factory rotating assembly! Using WBO2 is the ONLY Way to accurately build, not buy a chip. Knowing the AFR is the only way go, when the challenge is FAST GOING!

Myself and other members could help you with a "Good Guess" starter chip, likely as good as or better than the "Internet Hype" chips vendors. A good plan would be to take the chip building challenge yourself and let the members here help you along the way.

One option to doing the chip yourself is to use an Ostrich 2.0 chip emulator so you can make chip changes even with the engine running. http://www.moates.net/ostrich-20-the...eed-p-169.html

Using the Ostrich 2.0 allows members to post chip files / .bin files that you can download from gearhead then Upload into the Ostrich 2.0.

Yea Id like to learn to tune, I have the 1320 bluetooth adapter for datalogging, just hate to spend money on tuning stuff for this ecm if Im just gonna swap it out for a later one that uses flash instead of a chip. fired it up last night, set the dist to No.1 at 10 degrees and it lit right off.

The original TPI computer is still a very good computer. There is a TREMENDOUS amount of software and hardware support for the original TPI computer! Of all the OBD1 computers available, the 1227730 ECM is undoubtedly the most thoroughly "hacked" OBD1 ECM ever!! Virtually all the "hacked" 1227730 ECM information can be downloaded for FREE! The Ostrich 2.0 makes the original TPI computer FLASH, even with the engine Running!

If you try the Ostrich 2.0 and later decide to move on to something else, the resale value / market for a good used Ostrich 2.0 is strong (about 75% of new)! Finding a used Ostrich 2.0 is not an easy find, it's a very good product.

If you purchase an Ostrich 2.0, I'll provide you with FREE starter .bin file. If you shop the internet for a custom chip, you'll likely find the price of an Ostrich 2.0 is less $$$ than a custom chip!

biggest problem I have right now Is I cant get the data logs, I have the gauge setup, and tunerpro says its connected for DL but I get no readings Ive tried every .XDF I can find , nothing . I cant tune what I dont know, and I see in alot of custom tunes that alot of the tables that gm used for various things have been completely 0rd out, stuff like power enrichment vs rpm type tables Why the hell would they do that , can you compensate for that stuff in the primary charts? I did install my wideband and it gets super lean on any part throttle, and I need to verify my fuel pressure.

    I've only been able to get WBO2 working with .XDF definitions $OD, $31, $OE, $E6, and $8D.

    .XDF definitions $OD, $31, $OE, $E6, are generally used for most 1993 - 1995 GM Pickups, Vans, Suburbans, S10 / S15, including Astro Vans.

$8D definition is generally used for most 1990 - 1992 TPI engines.

Sorry I didnt update the post, I had some other stuff come up in life and I was falling into a deep depression and had came up withthis crazy ass notion that i wanted to live in a van and travel the country so i bought a 12 ft box van and sold my camaro like a dumbass to fund the van build. But I have a new project and i'm on some different depression meds. LOL I ran across a guy that had a 1999 9C3 police Lumina withthe L36 3800 series 2 , always wanted one and then i got a steal on a 1999 grans prix GTP that has the L67 supercharged 3800 so I am currently swapping the L67 in place of the L36 and rebuilding the 4T65E-hd to go along with it.20200127_200002.jpg
