    OLSD Tuning VE Tables

    Tuning VE Tables in OLSD.
I've read that OLSD tuning can vary depending on weather conditions. Can't be that sensitive surely ?

OK My last drive & log was great, smooth & stable.
Target is set to 13.0:1 across the board.
Log and collate data, I was running generally around 11.5:1 to 13.5:1
Scale all changes to the VE table by 50% so we sneak up on the target rather than overshooting.
changes all seem to caculate & look correct.

My averaged data matches Steveo's EEHack & Trimalyzer fairly well.

    Latest log 10.5:1 to 17:1

The VE table now looks more like Toblerone and is further out than before

How do others trim the VE tables?

I have noticed the wideband can vary between 15 & 18 across 1 cell.
    1600 rpm, map 55, 217 counts averaged 17.09
Is this affected by driving in different gears?

    Suggestions on a postcard please

    Thanks
    Mitch

This doesn't really help you I suppose but I run OLSD on my lightly modded bbc and it is so consistant and has been for two years that it has kind of taken the hobby fun out of it because I don't do anything to it but drive it. In the beginning I got some variance between summer and winter so I added mat and gave it 15% authority. Ever since it has been good althought I do notice in cold weather startup it is a little slower to lean out. I do my OL tuning a little different than most I think, I data log in CL and then do each cell by hand. Instead of using 128 as a dividing number I use between 122 and 134 depending on what AFR I want in that cell. Then I monitor on the wide band and tweak as required. I know this is a long post but as I said I have no tuning to do.

    HI
I wish everything was that simple,
I'm obviously doing it wrong :-)

I suspect the big ports & valves on this motor with lack of AE show as really lean AFR spikes across VE cell boundaries until it has recovered.

I've now changed my software to filter out a log if it isn't in the same VE cell as the previous log.
This seems to have made the AFR averages much more stable.
The cells with a large no of hits are very close to what they were before,
The cells with fewer hits are much less erratic in their AFR averages now.

I've also lowered my scale factor from 0.6 to 0.3 to reduce the swing if I overshoot.
I'll compare differences on the next run.

Anyone tried using the manifold wetting/puddling tables and settings in EEExtra to reduce the lean spikes ???
Is there anything similar in other PCM that anyone is familiar with ??

    Thanks
    Mitch

The reason there is no ae support is because SD is a backup mode if maf fails.
SD mode lacks some features. If you can`t tune the lean spikes try changing open loop afr table, or try CL maf mode, change stoich to 14.2 and apply my idle open loop patch.
I figured the pump shot table too, but it is only avalaible in maf mode.
