    knock sensor not detecting knock

Ok just for grins I took a pipe and hit the side of the block with a hammer and it didn't record any knock. there are no codes indicating that anything is wrong with the knock sensors. did I miss something or can a knock sensor go bad and not trigger a code?

Thats the GM test procedure but you have to have the engine running.

    How rude!

Is it disabled in chip? Wern't you getting crazy knock counts in another thread?

    Yeah anything can go bad?

no I always have the same amount of knock counts. if I start the truck then start a log it will usually show 47 knock counts. the flag is set for Code 43 Knock Sensor Circuit Failure so I would assume if there was something wrong with the knock sensor it would light the CEL. guess I'm going to go by new knock sensors.

I've always thought that was cool the 4.3L had dual knock sensors like the LT1, but they are tied together and LT1 are seprate. I've always wanted to try an LT1 knock module with 2 knock sensors on one of these memcals...

But before you go buy parts look at the pdf at bottom of this link for testing. If you do buy new ones look up tourque for installing and let us know what it is.
