I have a 1987 454 TBI 1227747 truck. I would like to hear feedback from tuners who have tuned the spark table. I have a mild towing cam and noticed that idle improved quite a bit adding 4 degrees of spark at idle/no load and did not build heat as rapidly. Just idling the temp would rise to 226 when the aux cooling fan would turn on with only 20 degrees of spark in factory bin. Adding the 4 degrees stopped this and improved idle MAP 1 KPa. As there is no knock feedback on big blocks, did they just stay ultra conservative on timing? I will be towing a 24' enclosed car hauler with this and do not want to get carried away when tuning for towing.
