Hi all! Picked up a 94 Sierra last summer for cheap, not running. Main problem was the distributor keeping it from running. Besides the shadetree previous owner's buddy swapping out probably good factory parts for value craft junk, the reluctor magnet was cracked, causing erratic and inconsistent timing advance. Got that fixed, and let my wife drive it for thrills and testing.Ran great for awhile, then she discovered it was burning antifreeze slowly. Good compression test, leakdown test revealed cylinder #2 had a leak between cylinder and water jacket. PO said engine was overhauled recently. Pulled the head and discovered (guess what) the engine was not factory, BUT A SWAP! .040 pistons, bathtub, who knows what else bottom end. Root cause there was cheap gasket set and somebody dented the head gasket during assembly.Many questions to follow...
