Hello, I've been reading with interest this post on VSSB/DRAC. I have 1995 S10 running gear in a 76 Chevy LUV Pickup. I have a EFI 4.3 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I have a electronic speedometer I am having trouble making work. Because I don't have ABS or an automatic can I bypass the DRAC and just run the signal from the VSS directly to the speedometer?

So let me understand what you have .... 1976 Chevy Luv with an electronic speedometer?

I'm thinking a 1976 Chevy Luv would have a mechanical speedometer cable?

Maybe you have an aftermarket electronic speedometer that has installation instructions?

No, a 76 Chevy LUV with 95 Chevy S10 running gear. All stock EFI, computer, the works.

Yes, but the question is, can I bypass the DRAC and got directly from the VSS to the speedometer?

The speed signal from the transmission will be in the neighborhood of 40 pulses per driveshaft revolution. The DRAC changes that signal into a multiple of 2000 pulses per mile for the speedometer. In the case of the Vin W engine in '95 I believe the PCM did this job for the speedometer rather than a DRAC.

Why are you wanting to skip the DRAC?
