Mpfi on OLDS 455; will this distributor work?

Ok I have a 1978 Buick Regal with full roller OLDS 455 and 4l80e wired for standard shift. I have a 1995 7427 from a k3500 gmc I want to use on it.
I've read most of the stuff required to do the mpfi conversion for the 7427 tho I will need extensive instruction on the coding part!!!!!

My question is about the distributor. I can cut 2 and make 1 BUT!! I also have a mid 80's olds distributor, the ones that have no vacuum advance and come with the electronic controlled carborator.
Will these early electronically controlled dist's work with the 7427 instead of cutting the top off newer Chevy?

Ok so I have pics of wiring diagram and the dist but iPhone keeps telling me I'm a lucky winner when I try to post the pictures. I will get them after I go to cellular store

Yes, that dizzy will work. IIRC that's what's in my friend's Olds 455s running off '7060s currently with 4L80Es behind them. If you noticed that many parts of the previous sentence were plural, you should, he has a 455 (actually bigger but don't recall the actual cubes) with a home made 4bbl TBI and 4L80E in his '72 Cutlass, and a similar combo in his girlfriend's '89 Caprice.

Also see this thread discussing that ad pop up thing, best is to use a desk top and add the ADBlock plus extension until 1project2many can figure out what exactly is going on. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...-click-overlay

That's great!!!! About distributor :-) I'm having a bit of difficulty translating the 7427 wiring to the 80's diagram tho. Lookin at a 1985 OLDS 88 diagram that has more wires than the dizzy. I can look at other years to c if same. Maybe I don't have everything.

Ok there are 2 pages, on first wire 430 is dist. Ref. Pulse lo, 424 is ign. Mod. Bypass output, 423 is spark timing output, 453 is also dist ref pulse lo. Those go to a box called "EST" WIRE 405 or 485 it's blurry, says esc retard going to a box called esc. That esc box has esc sensor, spark retard, then 12v and grd. 2nd page has 1 box called est distributor, wire 453 dist ref lo, 430 is dist ref hi, 423 says HEI spark timing, 424 says HEI bypass. I will get on pc later c if I can get pics up but will the same number wire b same wire?

I was gonna try using 4 tbi injectors in a home made set up but I'm thinkin this will b easier "for me at least"

Mines bored 30 over and think it was 462, 465 or 467 cu. in can't remember. Anyway THANK YOU!!!! I'll get back on after I get home

There should be 4 wires off the module in a 4 pin weather pack connector IIRC. They are the same 4 wires that are connected to the later small cap dizzy, Ref Hi (purple), ref Lo (Black/Red), bypass (Tan/Black) and EST (White).

Don't worry about any boxes or anything like that from the '85, just worry about the dizzy itself and the new PCM.

Ok I was trying to post these before. Pics are 85 full size OLDS diagram, one page anyway. That helped thank you! I wasn't looking forward to making a distributor....

That sounds way out of my budget!!! I still gotta figure out a fuel pump, get a fuel pressure reg and probly use 2 vortec throttle body's cuz not sure if I can swing the money for a ls style 95 or so mm throttle body. Don't want to take it over 5500 rpm, machine shop that bored and balanced it, does mostly olds big blocks said it would b good for 6500 rpm but it's already scary as hell. Looking for a good compromise between monster power and drivability. ;-) erring on the seat braking power side!! :-)

I have used the large cap HEI on a PFI 500 Cadillac in a 1978 GMC motorhome before using the 7730 ECM. Just make sure you set the latency table correctly for that distributor. 1990 Corvette should have tye correct latency for the most part.

What is latency?? I haven't explored the 7427 stuff yet and the one I'm working on now is distributerless. Quad-4 8707 ECM $8B.

Where can we find the corrections for the latency correction table? I'm using a large cap HEI with a 1227747.

85-91 Corvette will have the correct latency and wiring diagram as they had the large cap HEI from the factory. Fairly certain the 85-86 F-car TPIs used the same as well.

Thanks Fast355. My engine came out of a '84 Corvette and is now in a 49 GMC P/U.

I'm guessing I have to download the 1990 corvette mask and find a corvette bin file to get the latency specs?
