    Ok, makes sense.

    I've not burned a chip in probably a year as I pretty much have had the Ostrich 2.0 plugged in from the time I got it.

    I probably should burn a backup chip in case the battery in the ostrich goes low.

    Yes, the mask ID would be AA if that is what it is set to in the saved bin. Whatever settings are in the saved parameters of the bin file when you click save bin is what is saved.

    Using AA or the original mask ID for a bin programmed to an EEPROM is fine. It works the same as when using an emulator, AA means no checksum checking, mask ID means it will check.
