Can you tell anything about timing from ve history table?

I read a tread where guy said timing is like voodoo and to experement. I have been "experimenting" by adding timing where ve table have a rich pit forming and reducing timing where extremely lean. If a little rich I try adding a little timing, if little lean I add in ve table or ae-pe unless knock stays at certain spot then I try reducing timing. Would this be correct in any way shape or form??

    tunerpro rt, autoprom1, $8B, 2.3l quad-4

    thanks for any info :-)

I typically use the stock factory timing table to begin with. I typically "Fix" the VE table with the stock factory timing table. I typically experiment with the timing table a few cells at a time and look at the knock counts and BLM's to figure out what to do. Knock is sometimes caused by not enough spark advance. It is a very good plan to keep the BLM's near 128 when experimenting with spark.

dave you are the first one I have seen to say to little timming causes knocks , on my vehichele you are very correct.i think part of my knocks was the map sensor didn't match my v/6 any way 3 more degrezz at the particular map cells stop that knock count.

Cool... Thanks Dave, I needed someone to confirm what I was doin was correct or in the ball park. Most of this is unfamiliar so I'm shooting in the dark 75 percent of the time. :-)

tps and map is the easiest way to do cruise spark if you add timing and you have to lower tps to maintain speed the timing was needed also map reading will go lower at the same time

It does use less throttle in cruise to maintain speed limit, but feels better accelerating with light throttle than WOT. Gonna try taking timing back down in 90-100 kpa. Not sure what I'll do with PE yet
