    Knock sensor fault

    Hi
I have a 1995 LT1 engne, and when I have logged a run, I see that I have a huge amount of knock retards. It seems like my knock sensor/module is faulty. I have read that I can use a LT4 knocck module, but I can't find any of those modules for sale anywhere.
Does anybody know if this is discontinued?
And I live in Norway, so if anybody know where to buy I would be a happy man.

Often with a modified engine you have to turn-off the knock sensing by setting all the retard tables to 0. That's what I did.

lets see a log. where the knock occurs is very important.

i've never seen an LT1 knock module go bad..

an LT4 knock module sometimes helps, sometimes makes it worse, and sometimes does nothing. it's just designed for an engine with slightly different valvetrain components (which are probably nothing like yours has..)

I have a little log when I just started the car and let it idle for a little while.
I think it is best to tune out the knock sensor. Set the tables for 0 degrees retard and a high knock enable setpoint for the temperature.
See the logfile attached. The file is generated from EEHack, so the file needs to have the name changed from .doc to .eedata

Is it a good idea to shut off the knock sensing? I ask because I have knock retarding issue with my 7427, $0D, that I haven't been able to tune out by adjusting timing. I'm on the road now but when I get home I'm going to try turning off "Altitude Spark Bias". if it doesn't work this may be an option.

Hi Dispoejoe95. No, not really. I have tried to tune out the knock adjusting. But then I hear the engine knock..( of course.. :) ) So I have tried to adjust the spark table by retracting the spark 3 degrees overall. I can't hear any knock now, but I haven't run a log yet to see if the knocks is still there.
I'll post the results as soon I have checked this.

If you set retard to 0.00 will the knock counter still show knock on history table?

Yes I believe so. The knock counter would still increment, and it will retard 0 degrees
