    timing question

I noticed that the timing on my '95 9C1, programmed by Brian Herter years ago, has WAY more advanced timing (about 5-9 degrees) than the stock programming on the rest of my LT1s. For some reason it seems to work on the 9C1 which runs like a raped ape, but if I put that program in my other cars (so far tried it in my '94 Buick RMW and '96 Impala SS) they ping and/or run like the brakes are on. What gives? All cars are basically stock with the exception of some minor intake/exhaust mods.
