    I understand there is three test that you can do with a pick-up coil.

    Test 1.
    Use multi-meter to for the voltage being delivered to ICM should be between .3 and 1.5 volts AC
    hook up positive and negative lead to pick-up and turn distributor to get volts.

    Test 2.
    Check for dead short. Check each white and green separately to ground for continuity. Should be infinite.

    Test 3.
    Check the ohm of the pick-up coil. Should be between 500-1500 ohms. Green and white wires to multi-meter and read ohms.

    If either test 2 or test 3 doesn't check out replace pick-up coil.
