Knock count is an accumulator of the times the ECM sees a knock event. Each time it sees engine knock, it will increment the counter by 1. When it hits 255 it will roll over to 0. If this is behavior you are seeing, you will want to check your knock sensor and knock module. A typical healthy engine may detect a few knocks on start and that's it. Noisy roller rockers and exhaust hitting the bottom of the vehicle have been sources of false knock.

Yes I understand how it works but why do the numbers from one cell populate another how do you know where the knock is happening in the timing curve????

Is it set up like a graph with RPM and MAP? If so you want to look at your timing charts at the same MAP and RPM.
