    Newb to programming

    Hello!
I am researching for an engine swap on my 90 GMC 5.7/700R that will wake up the performance and provide more torque for some fun times. A few years back, the engine was rebuilt using stock bottom end, stock TBI cam, Vortec heads and the GMPP TBI intake. It ran on the stock ECM but was less than optimal. I purchased a aftermarket chip and it was better but still felt like more work was required.

So I have a complete 5.7 Vortec engine that will be gone through and found a stock LT 4 Vette cam that I want to install during the build process. Looks like I already have the right computer for this upgrade, just need to learn how to program for the modified parameters to make the combination work.

I am reading and learning from the experiences of others on this site. You guys have instilled the confidence I needed to make this one work.

The correct timing table is very important for performance. As a starting point, I posted the "STOCK" timing tables from a 1998 L31 5.7 Liter Vortec here:http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...-Throttle-ONLY!

Thanks Dave! Looks like I have some studying to do as I have already determined it likes more timing down low. Recently advanced the base timing from 0 to 4 degrees and really can tell a difference in bottom end and also at the gas pump. Went from low 13 mpg to almost 15 mpg for around town driving.

Should I be looking into the Moates equipment required next?

I like new tools! Will start gathering and get back when the new tools are assembled.

    Thanks for the guidance, Dave.
