1227747 with akah bin on '84 Crossfire Fuel Injection Corvette engine.

Upgraded ECM to '88 truck and re routed fuel lines to feed both injectors at the same time using block off plates and an external regulator.
Using frame as test stand (body off) the engine runs ok in idle. Just bought APU1 and a G2 from Moates. Will be using 27s512 chips for tuning.
The question is do I start by copying the existing bin or just go ahead and solder in the G2 and load up a new bin. Expect to use ACSR bin after it's running again. Any suggestions appreciated.

If you've spent time tuning the existing file then I'd stat with that.

I haven't spent any time tuning with the chip. The chip was in The ECM when I got it, and the harness, from S&P in the late '90s. My tuning was by ear and feel just like in the old days. I have changed injectors and fueling mode since then. But I agree with you. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

If you changed injector size or fuel pressure, start with a new bin with the BPW matching your modified setup and take it from there.

Thanks DOC! Thought I would have to adjust BPW for the injectors and FP in what ever bin I end up using. Not so???

The BIN I have may or may not be a stock AHAK. I guess what I need to know is should I make a copy of that on the new chip when I install the G2 in my ECM? If so, then should I first make a copy of my AHAK BIN before I start unsoldering? I just answered my own question, didn't I?

The chips are all in carriers and you need the chip off the board to read them so you might as well read the chips you have and file the bins away in case you want to look at them at some point.

Put whatever bin makes it run on the chip. Which one isn't that important right now because you'll be changing it when you get the car to the point it's drivable and tunable.

Thanks for the input. How do I go about reading the chip if its off the board? Don't I need to be looking at the ECM through the ALDL port to read the BIN? I have a APU1 and a G2 on the way. Will I use those to read the chip?

You need to place the chip in the eprom burner to read it. That's the socket on the apu1.
