    aldl cable and high idle

I own a 1989 blazer v1500 and I have a problem when I plug my ALDL cable (Moates) my rpm rises from 600 rpm to about 1100 in park. When I drive around it stays High even when warm and if I park it then raises to 2000 rpm so it's anoying. It will do it regardless of the cable being plugged to the laptop or not. It does it with winALDL and tuner pro rt v5 so is there a ground or some other physical problem with the ALDL I should look for?

    thanks Mat

The switch on the side of the ALDU1 should be set to "open". When it's set to 10K, that puts the ECM in a "service mode" that raises the idle to 1100 to 1200 RPM depending on where it's set in the BIN.

Noticed that when I plug in my OTC Nemisys the idle also increases on OBD1 TPI engines. Have to use an external tach to adjust base idle.

so, in my application I'm using a 7727 ecm. to get tunerpro to talk to the ecm, I had to use the 10k resistor. why? what purpose does this serve othern than putting the ecm in service mode?

'7727 does not require the 10K resistor for datalink.
