    programming a $42 cip

    Hi, This is a first time to post hear, But I am new to this, I have a 89 chevy ecm #1227747 and I can not get it to program correctly? This is what I have done,I soldered the new dip socket and pluged a zf socket into that in the computer board,I can plug the original 4kb chip in and the truck will run fine, but if I copy the program on to a 27sf512 chip and plug it in with no changes to the program it runs in limp mode with the check engine light blinking. I am using a apu from moats for the programming, I have done an $od 64kb several times with no issues so I know it is something I am doing wrong. PLEASE can some one tell me where I am messing up!!! THANKS 83iroc383

    Post the offsets you are programming the 27SF512 chip with.

    I think you missed an "F" in the Chip Start / End addressing 00F000 - 00FFFF

    File Size
    Chip
    Buffer Start -> End
    Chip Start -> End
    4k (4096)
    27SF512
    000000 -> 000FFF
    00F000 -> 00FFFF

    Buffer is the chip size, 4k chip is buffer address 00000 to 000FFF.

    Chip start -> end is the address you want the 27SF512 to have the 4K chip, Starting Addess is 00F000 with the ending address 00FFFF.

    The 27SF512 chip is 64K in size, you only need the last 4K of the 64K available in 27SF512.

    Dave: Did I read somewhere that 27SF512 had to be erased first? Can someone link me to info about programming it with apu1 or flash and burn?
